The first thing she could remember was the darkness.

Nothingness swirled around her like a coat, protecting her from a life beyond.

Part of her wanted to leave; part of her never wanted to let go.

The keeper of the eternal clock saw her indecisiveness.

Father Tempus soon decided to help her look further:

over the past and around the present so she could see the possibilities of the future.

He made a decision for her.

She slept for nine months and awoke in a field.

The land was bedded with spring flowers and covered in winter’s snow.

The moon and sun shone together.

Clouds swam just above the wet mud.

Where she first awoke, thirteen others opened their eyes with her’s:

Luna, the moon, Sol, the sun and Tellus, the earth.

Aecor, the waters, Caelus, the heavens, and Avius, the islands.

Nivalis, the snow of winter and Flos, the flower of spring.

Purus, the innocent one, Novellus, the little one and Litera, the wisest.

Vita, the one with the namesake of life and Torva, the one named after death.

Then there was her: Light.

Fourteen brothers and sisters were made to be family.

The future was one of their shared happiness in each other.

With her seven sisters and six brothers, she was born to be with them.

She was born to love them.

Born to protect them.

Made to be together, forever.

That didn’t happen.

Torva was the first to fall.

Vita locked him away somewhere far away.

Then, one left, one fell, one followed and so did the next.

Until there were twelve left.

Until there were six left.

Until there was one left.

When she found herself alone, the darkness returned.

It became her only friend, became the shroud that protected her once more.

As Light lost her family, the darkness returned though it did not stay.

Eventually, even the dark slowly faded away,

until she was completely alone and nothing remained.

No one to fall with her, no one to keep her standing.

That is when Lightfell-

and that happened a long time ago.
