AYA VERANO
I bit my lips as I hit the Publish button in my laptop screen and closed my laptop as soon as it was confirmed that the chapter was already published. Whatever. Bahala na. I caught Sandro grinning at me as he looked at his phone.
"What?" I asked from the bed kung saan ako nakadapa, only wearing my bikini.
"I saw that." He replied.
"Saw what exactly?" I asked, standing up from the bed and rummaged my bag to look for my scrunchies.
"The one you published. You wrote exactly what happened in this trip." He said.
I shrugged my shoulders. "Have you seen my scrunchies?" I asked.
"In the front pocket of my khaki shorts."
I nodded and went to his shorts which was lying on the floor. "Are you against what I wrote? Pwede ko naman i-edit kung hindi mo gusto na sumulat ako ng r18 tapos ikaw ang character." I asked while tying my hair into a ponytail.
Sandro laughed. "No. I find it amusing Aya. Actually, I am amazed that you can write exactly what is happening between us."
"Sabi nga nila, you base what you write on experience or what you saw." I only replied.
Sandro just laughed at me and continued reading what I wrote.
I write for fun. I am his fan. Our meeting was just a coincidence and our set up was something uncalled for. I really thought I would lose my journal that time e I treasure it because it contains my deepest thoughts and feelings. Hindi ko alam kung nakakatuwa o pighati na isang Ferdinand Alexander Araneta Marcos ang nakapulot ng journal ko.
We met exactly on my first day of work sa restaurant ni Simon. Hindi ko rin alam na restaurant ni Simon yun dahil hindi nakalagay sa site ng restaurant nung nagreview ako for interview. For short, everything was only a coincidence.
Sandro saw my file when I got in kaya niya nalaman ang pangalan ko and like fuck,I wrote my name in that journal. Pati ang picture ko nakadikit sa last page ng journal and he saw it. Ang sabi niya he checked my Instagram account but he didn't know what to say back then kaya he kept it for a while. Unknown to him, he would actually meet me in person at sa restaurant ni Simon pa.
We talked in the office about it. Tinanong niya kung sa akin yung journal and I said yes. He gave it back to me. Pero when I left the office, he asked me about the Sandro Marcos bucket list and so I told him I will tell him about it over coffee if he would permit. He said yes without hesitating and I still remember about it. Still think about it even.
A few months ago
"Tell me about it." He said, leaning his arms on the coffee table. We were seated in the veranda part of the coffee shop. He ordered matcha while I ordered my favorite caramel macchiato.
"It's for a fan fiction which I wrote with you as the main character in an application called Wattpad." I started.
"Interesting. Go on." He urged.
"And you weren't supposed to know it pero nahuli mo na ako. Are you going to sue me?" Tanong ko.
Sandro laughed. "Chef Aya, do I look like a person who holds grudges?"
I pressed my lips together. "What if lang naman kasi."
He shook his head, still laughing. "No. Why would I? I won't gain anything if I sue you."
