(fast forward to the funeral)

it was the day of hiromis funeral, my mom, my dad, jordan and i were all getting dressed.

it was a gloomy and rainy friday morning and everyone was exhausted.

i had on a black dress with black heels and my makeup was done, i didn't go for a glam look because i knew that i would cry it all off and that would be embarrassing.

we were all ready to go, my dad was driving. the funeral was located in trenton. it was only an hour away.

once we got there, i met up with kairi and the boys.

"hey kai." i said softly, giving him a hug.

"hey, thank you so much for coming."

i nodded.

i saw mattia walking my way, he tapped on my shoulder.

"hey." he said softly.

"hey, glad you could make it."

"of course, hiromi was like my second mother. and kairi is like my brother. always be here for him." Mattia said.

"is your grandmother okay?" i asked. he looked down when i asked him that. I lifted his chin up with my index finger.

"you can tell me." i said.

"she has thyroid cancer." mattia sighed.

"oh mattia, i am so sorry." i gave him a hug.

"thank you a lot g, means a lot to me."

time passed and it was time for the service, i sat with mattia and rob while alvaro, alejandro and roshaun sat in front of us. kai got up from his seat and walked up on the stage to give his mother a speech.

the speech:

first off, i would like to start off by saying thank you for everyone who took the time out of their morning to come and support my mother. i also want to give a big shoutout to my best friend georgia for being here, i wouldn't be standing right here if it wasn't for her. love you g.

hiromi, my mother was a peaceful, precious, and warm-hearted woman. from her laughs, to her hugs to all of the above, she was a great mother. i remember when i was little, my mom bought me a pop up toy box. and when the little animal popped out of the box, i got scared and ran into my moms arms. i recall her saying "everything is okay my love."

i know that my mother is up in heaven looking down on me, in fact on all of us smiling and praying over us. if you're hearing this mom, i love you and thank you so much for the 18 years we've had together.

the room was filled with sniffles and soft cries, kairi stepped off the stage and came back over to his seat. I gave him a a big hug, cries exchanging from the both of us.

we let go and listen to the rest of the speeches that were given. after, we went to kairis aunts house for the repass. alvaro and roshaun left early for some business, the rest of us stayed.

"hey, come with me outside real quick." Mattia assured me.

i nodded. "kai, i'll be right back."

"okay, be safe wherever you're going!"

"you know i will." i said.

i walked outside to see mattia sitting down on the chair swing in kairis backyard, i sat next to him.

"sooo, what brings us out here?" i asked.

he pulled out a red box, it was square and it had a golden bow in it.

"open it."

i took it out of his hands and carefully opened it.

it was a silver necklace with a crucifix and the name 'gg' on it. i was at a lose of words. i was happy but yet confused.

"thank you so much matti, but... why?"

"because, i wanna be with you and i love you."

my eyes started to get watering, my heart was beating, butterflies filling my stomach.

all i could do is leap into his arms, aside from kairi, this man made me feel so safe. he's never done me wrong and i know that he would do anything just to keep me safe.

"i love you too, mattia polibio."

i felt a smile grow on his face. "turn around, let me put it on you."

i turned around and he carefully wrapped it around my neck and clipped it on.

once he put the necklace on me, we both walked back inside.
