OFFICER JOANNE MALARKEN, MILWAUKEE POLICE DEPARTMENT

28461-347BB Brief Summary of Victim 39

CASE INTRO: Shooter entered mall in afternoon. Armed with a .22, fired repeatedly. 39 victims, ranging in age from seven weeks to ninety three years. Shooter killed after fifteen hour standoff.

Victim 39- Alex Braun. Shopping at mall with girlfriend, Jayla Ehlertson. Shot four times: twice in the left chest, once in the abdomen, once in the heart. Body had to be pried away from Ehlertson, who was sedated at the time. Officers found her covered in blood and mumbling something about 'countoffs'. Ehlertson had been performing CPR on her dead boyfriend, oblvious to the blood spurting from his wounds each time she performed a compression. (CPR would have been useless, Braun was several minutes dead at officer's arrival) Interred 9/28/16 at Culverro Cemetary.

**Update 11/16/16. Ehlertson placed in mental facility. Suffering from depression, hallucinations, and severe PTSD. Patient 940J at Rocky Road Facility.

**Update 4/4/17. Ehlertson deceased. Accidental overdose on psychiatric pills. Doctors noted decline in mental stability in days leading up to death. Patient quoted as counting "one and two" repeatedly at all hours of day and night. Interred 327/16 at Culverro Cemetary.
