Natasha's POV
I turned on my heels and rushed out of the door. I could feel my heart beating in my chest and my thoughts racing at a mile a minute.
Steve.
I had to find Steve.
I ran through the winding corridors and used the stairs instead of the elevator.
After a couple of minutes, I found Steve standing in the meeting room talking to Stark.
I grabbed onto his arm and led him out of the room. Stark threw his hands up in exasperation.
My breathing was heavy and I was speaking too quickly, "Steve. She-I didn't think it was possible, but-she..."
Steve put his hands on my shoulders and took a deep breath, expecting me to do the same.
Finally, my breathing had slowed some. I swallowed and looked down at the floor.
"What is it?" Steve asked me gently.
"The girl. That we saved from Hydra. She's," I took another deep breath and looked into Steve's worried eyes.
"She's my sister," I finally said as calmly as possible.
Steve furrowed his brows, "Are you sure?"
I nodded and blinked back tears. "Yeah. I'm sure."
"Well that's great, right?" Stark clapped his hands.
We simultaneously looked over to see him leaning on the doorframe, eavesdropping on our conversation.
I shot a glare at him.
"Hey! If my conversation is going to be interrupted, I think I deserve to know why." Stark raised his eyebrows at me.
"Now's not the time Tony," Steve shook his head.
Stark walked back into the conference room.
I swallowed hard, "Steve."
He focused his attention back on me.
"I thought she was dead, and-" I suddenly felt overheated.
"And if she isn't, maybe Yelena could be alive too."
Steve gave me a small smile, "Yeah. Maybe, but for now I think we need to focus on the situation at hand."
I nodded in agreement.
"I'll go see what Banner has collected from those tests of his, and try to find out some more information about her. Maybe I'll get Buck to talk to her, because I think the best thing for her to have right now is someone who can relate to her situation. Someone she can trust." Steve took his hand away from my shoulder and began walking away.
"Hey, Steve!" I shouted a little louder than I needed to.
He turned his head around, looking back at me.
"Thanks," I said gently and genuinely.
He just sent me a reassuring smile before making his way to the elevator.
