Chapter 𝟸
Hailey's Birthday Party
Hailey's POV:
As my alarm was going off, I sat up and scratched my head for a while before I realized what today is."Wait...ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!" I sprinted to the calendar and flipped the pages until it got to July 18th of 2020. "How did I forget?!" I asked myself. It was a Saturday, so I didn't have school. I sat back in bed and reached for my phone and started to text my friends.
No ones POV:
Hailey: ' hi guys! It's my birthday today!'
Amanda: ' happy b-day! How are you?'
Hailey: 'I'm good, hbu?'
Amanda: 'I'm doing pretty well, considering that it's a Saturday and there's no school.'
Rachel has joined the chat
Rachel: 'hey girls! And happy birthday Hailey!'
Hailey: 'thx! How are you today, Rachel?'
Rachel: 'I'm doing good!'
Amanda: 'wanna go to the park?'
Hailey: 'sure!'
Rachel: 'yeah!'
Amanda: 'ok let's go!'
Everyone left the chat
At the park
Haileys POV:
I was walking alone on the sidewalk heading toward the park at around 1:00, and everything was fine!... to fine... usually, kids are running around, maybe some dogs barking now and then, cars go by frequently, and I seem to catch up with my friends at this point. Everything was PERFECT... suddenly some girl jumped in front of me and said "hi.! My name is Suki!" She said excitedly. "Hello! My name is Hailey, do you know why the town is so quiet?" I asked "sure! There's a party in the park and the whole neighbor- oof I said too much" then I realized some kid was having a party at the park. Probably for their birthday. "Oh! Ok. I'll meet up with my friends and we will go to another park to go on a walk!" I said cheerfully. "Oh okay... we'll see you soon I guess, Hailey!" She said as I started to leave. I looked behind and said, "see ya!"
At the park, I entered through the gateway, to see a huge 'Happy Birthday Hailey' sign, with my favorite songs playing, triple-decker cake, and almost everyone in the neighborhood dancing. My friends saw me and led me over to the dance floor. "Wow! You did this for me?!" I said. "Yeah! Why wouldn't we? It's your birthday!" Rachel yelled. We danced for a while and then had cake. It was the best (kinda) birthday I had ever had!...
Rachel's POV:
We danced for a while and then we showed Hailey her cake. After that, she went missing. We searched the park and found her walk away from the fountain with her hair covering her right eye. She didn't seem to happy until she saw us. Then her face lit up and ran toward us saying. "I finally found you! Something happened and I got lost." "It's ok! Where were you though?" I said. "...Ummm,... I was near the forested area, near the fountain." She said nervously. "Are you sure?" Asked Amanda. "Yeah!" Hailey said quite forcefully. "Okay..." both I and Amanda said unsurely.
When we got home, we asked exactly what happened when she disappeared, but she tried to avoid the conversation.
Haileys POV:
I tried to avoid their questions by changing the conversation, but they still thought I was acting suspiciously. For the following months, I would brush my hair over one eye, or wear an eyepatch to cover that part of my face.
Now that my an eyepatch or some hair covers my face, I got used to looking out of one eye. My friends wondered if I was okay and even attempted to move the hair. I woke up before they could, and this bothered me for a while.
