4 - Friends

The Next Day...

     "Hey, Isa!" The familiar voice of my brother called out to me at dinner. "Please talk to me." 

     I turned around and narrowed my eyes.

     "What do you want?! I'm staying away from you for a reason, you know." I snapped at Nico and turned around.

      "Isabelle! WAIT!!" He grabbed my arm. "Listen to what I have to say, please."

     I looked at him for a minute, then slapped him on the face. Tons of campers were looking at us now.

     "That's for calling me, Isabelle!" Then I punched him, "and that's for being a selfish brat!!!"

     I sat as far away from Nico as possible at the Hades table while he sat next to Will Solace. For a while, I just stared at an empty plate.

     "You have to think of the food you want and..." Nico started.

     "I don't need your help," I growled at him but took his advice. I started thinking of fried rice, chicken and dumpling soup, and Mexican rice pudding. They appeared in heaping piles on my plate.

     After dinner, I climbed on top of the Demeter Cabin, quite easy because all the vines crawled up the sides of the walls. Then I heard something else climb up the wall of the cabin, I tried to wrench out Nightmare but remembered that I left it in the Hades cabin, hidden. 

     Damn it!!! 

     I couldn't protect myself, from whatever this is, I HAD NO WEAPONS!!!

     I didn't notice the cloud of the storm swirling above my head. Out of instinct, I raised my hands, and lightning coursed through them.

     The figures of Piper McLean and Logan Gardner popped up to the roof and the lightning in my hands subdued slowly, but not before Piper saw.

     "Was that LIGHTNING!" She screeched. "Are you SURE you a daughter of Hades!"

     "I'M BLESSED BY ZEUS AND POSEIDON, OKAY!!!!!!" I shouted at them, the cloud of the storm only got bigger. They backed away.

     "Woah, that's FREAKISHLY COOL! But terrifying too." Logan whispered to himself. 

      I could feel the corners of my mouth lifting slightly.

      "Well, I'm glad you don't think I'm a freak." I smiled bigger.

      "Your unique." Piper shook her head as she said this, then she looked up and smiled. "But I like that about you."

      "I feel like this is going to be an interesting summer," Logan said when we got off the roof.

      I nodded my head. 

      A perfect one.
