*Prologue*I FELT the piercing stares shooting right through my entire body, almost as if a continuous spear of pain shot straight to me. Or rather a spear of shame. I wouldn't blame anyone for all the staring, I'd also stare at myself if I were to be the other person.
The last thing anyone would expect is seeing a bride in her fully clothed expensive white lace wedding dress seated and locked up in a cell.
Yeah! you've got that right. A bride in a jail!
I know you're all probably wondering how I ended up in such a situation. Well to cut it short, it's nothing but a simple agreement we humans tend to say to anyone in order to clarify the sincerity of your word. But in my case, it was a said deal of eleven years ago.
A dare.
That's what got me here. But the ironic fact of it all was I didn't plan on pursuing the thought of turning the dare to a reality, but someone played a fast one on me. And now I have to dance to the music I didn't play.
Darn it!
I clenched my palm around the solid iron cell bar. My forehead rested on the coldness of it, with both my eyes shut trying to picture what had happened in the past hour, but the noise behind me made it so impossible to do so.
Starting from the fair red hair lady with a flunky look, probably in jail on the count of drug and alcohol use, the dark circle under her eyes, and red puffy soullessness of eyes were full of detail. She and her partner who looked similar to her in the same broken form, apart from the black cheap wig which was one step away from being a rag hanging on her head, just won't keep shut.
From the far end of where they both sat on the bench their constant yell for an oblivious busy cop for attention, deafened my ear drums.
I'm a thin thread away from bawling out in frustration. The alcohol I had a couple hours ago completely dissipated from my system.
A whisper which is obviously meant for my ear, poured out from their drunken mouth.
'With that look on her face, she probably stabbed her husband on their way to their honeymoon.' The black wigged lady whispered loudly.
'Yeah you're right. Those cops must have lost it, to have kept us both alone with her.' The other lady said continuing from where the other stopped.
That was certainly far from the truth.
'It should be the other way round. I should be the one worried about my safety.' I almost scoff out in disbelief.
I could only think their pleas for help were heard. Or so I thought until I caught the eyes of the cop on me as he unlocked the bars with the card he held.
His next word solidified it all, and at the same time took me by surprise. Probably due to the unfamiliarity of his statement.
"Someone bailed you out, come on." He gestured out. I couldn't help but hear the sigh of relief from both ladies.
Cautiously, I took my time stepping out of what I could call a home for the night, though I had expected to spend a much longer time there.
The door shut with a beep, as the tall huge cop led me out. I couldn't help myself but to stop and straighten things out.
Whirling around behind me I spoke my mind, with no filter. "For your information, I didn't kill my husband he's very much alive. Thank you." Said and done I walked out of there with the pale skin cop by my side. Aware of the sad situation my life was in, I shouldn't be clearing or straightening out things that are already messed up to strangers.
Walking off the corner to reveal the entire room of desk officers who appeared busy, a familiar figure stood out. Fully clothed in an expensive silver tuxedo and bow tie, with both his hands deep in the pocket of his black smooth trousers.
I saw him as both our eyes locked together, and as always he had that blank stare I'd recently seen in his eyes, and expressionless face.
Logan White. My husband. Not by choice.
