Nothing else new really happened for the rest of the day. It was just regular, old, life-sucking school. After the final bell went, I grabbed my bag and put on my headphones.
As i walked home, I felt a bit hungry. I didn't know why, but I was probably just feeling peckish today. I pulled down my headphones as I walked into the small bakery and made my way up to the counter. I ordered a sausage roll. (ik, he's a pescatarian irl, this is just for the story -_-) Nothing too big or too small but simple. I paid and pulled my headphones back on as I walked out and started eating my food.
Soon after, I had gotten home. Grabbing my keys and unlocking the door, I walked inside. I closed the door behind me and walked further into the house. As I walked past, I saw mom standing in the kitchen. I walked in and said hi. She said hi back and we talked for the next few minutes. A pretty normal conversation, asking how my day was, what lessons I had had and how they went etc.
Afterwards, I headed upstairs and walked into my room. After walking in and placing down my bag I flopped down dramatically on my bed. School was so tiring and life-sucking, but at least i don't have to see it again till tomorrow. I layed on my bed for the next few minutes before finally heaving myself up so i was sitting. I leaned down and grabbed my bag, opening it and digging through for my book. I had finished it at school and was going to put it back on my shelf.
I stood up walking to the other side of my room over to my large bookshelf. After I placed it on the wooden shelf, my eyes glanced over to my desk where i saw it. Lying on my desk was another one. Another book.
I walked over and stared down at the book. 'All That's Left In The World' by Erik J. Brown
(This is the book for any interested.)
The bright but at the same time dark colours of the cover caught my eye. The cover looked beautiful and the title sounded interesting and screamed that the book was a dystopian. I gently lifted the book turning it around to look at the back. As i read the blurb i confirmed my suspicion that it was a dystopian and as i read on also discovered that it was an LGBTQ+ story. Nice. Dystopian and LGBTQ+ where two genres i liked so it was nice to find a book that put them together.
As i was examining the book, my mind went back to what i said to Pj earlier today and the thought that played a lot when i found a book on my desk. How did it get here? It couldn't have been my parents or my sister cause whenever i had asked them about it, they had no idea what i was talking about. Was someone else leaving them here? That's the only other thing i could think of. But how are they getting them on my desk? And how are they getting in my room? Those thoughts made the whole situation a bit controversial in my head. The first few times it happened i was a bit creeped out. I was wondering if someone was watching me or someone was sneaking into my room when i wasn't there. The usual paranoid thoughts. Eventually, i just got used to the books appearing and also started becoming a little bit flattered. As strange as it sounded the thought that someone was leaving me gifts for ,as far as i could tell, no reason made me feel oddly slightly flattered. Obviously i was still a little disturbed at the idea of someone i probably didn't know coming into my room while i'm not there but i was also a bit interested to see what book would be there when i got back. It had also opened me up to different genres as well, so it wasn't all bad.
I was brought out of my thoughts by my mom calling me from downstairs. Dinner was ready. I placed the book back on the desk and left my room heading downstairs to the kitchen.
