Jack was walking down the street with his parents merrily licking his ice cream. They had just gone on an outing and were tiredly coming back home.
It was already late and the sky was turning a dark purple as they reached their residence. Hurriedly they went in and shut the door behind them.
"Jack go up stairs and bathe when your done. You got ice-cream all over you." His mother said, exhausted.
"Okay" was his short response.
Jack watched as his parents went upstairs to change and decided to look out the window whilst he ate his dessert.
All there was to see were a few cars going down the road and one or two pigeons. Other than that the street was quiet.
Jack was about to turn around when suddenly he saw the glimpse of a shadow right in front of him.
Startled he jumped back, his heart racing as he searched for the dark figure.
There was nothing to see though.
Nervously Jack decided to go upstairs. He didn't quite feel safe down here by himself. Especially since he could have sworn the shadow was smiling at him.
Upstairs Jack finished the last of his cone and proceeded to take a warm shower. The whole time he kept turning around thinking something was behind him as he bathed.
His senses must have been going crazy!
After he finished changing he waited eagerly for his parents to come and tell him goodnight which they eventually did.
Afterwards Jack lay on his bed too scared to fall asleep. He covered himself with his sheets and tried to relax when suddenly he heard a whooshing sound in his room.
Heart racing Jack slowly came out of his sheets and turned to see a boy walking around in his room.
He seemed to be examining everything and making mental notes in his head.
Suddenly he turned around and noticed Jack watching him.
Smiling nervously the boy walked slowly towards Jack and said "Hi I'm Peter! What's your name?"
Uncertainly Jack responded "Jack."
"That's a cool name."
"Yeah. What are you doing in my room? And how did you get in here?"
"Well I'm here to tell you a secret and I got in through the window."
Jack still wasn't quite satisfied with his "I got in through the window" answer considering how high the building was but he didn't question it further.
"What's the secret you wanted to tell me?"
"Well... Do you believe in magic?"
"Sort of. I think the tooth fairy's real."
"Well what if I told you that mermaids actually exist? And that fairies do and all other types of magical creatures?"
"I'd say that's awesome and I want to see it."
"Well you can! If you come with me to Neverland!"
"Where's that? Is it in the city?" questioned Jack, bewildered.
Peter laughed and began to explain all about Neverland. How you could find it, what you could see there and the more he talked the more Jack wanted to go.
"How do we get there?" questioned Jack eagerly.
Smirking Peter responded "We'll fly there."
"In a plane?"
"No. We'll put on fairy dust and literally fly there ourselves."
Jack took a moment to comprehend what he just heard. He remembered his parents telling him about dangerous powders that make you see and do crazy things. Drugs they were called if he remembered correctly.
His parents said never to do them as they would mess you up.
"Umm you know what never mind. You can go ahead and go to Neverland. I-I'll stay here."
Frowning Peter looked at him then smiled saying "Don't worry it's perfectly safe! I'll show you!"
Peter proceeded to take out some golden looking dust from a bag and sprinkle it on himself.
Suddenly he began to float.
Astonished Jack watched with his mouth agape as Peter began to fly around his room like a cloud in the sky.
"I want to fly! Give me some of the fairy dust too please!" begged Jack eagerly.
Beaming Peter glided over to him and sprinkled some dust on him as well.
Instantly Jack began to float as well. At first he struggled to balance himself but eventually he caught on.
Laughing he watched as Peter took his hand and began to lead him out his window and towards the wonderful land of Neverland.
