Chapter 9

Ollie finds comfort in knowing Deena has swallowed her pride and wants to make this work. She truly is exhibiting character traits similar to those of his mother. There are many family traditions and practices in Ollie's family, but being the Englishman that he is becoming, most of them will get lost along the way. Ollie is adapting, and fast. With a woman like Nancy now taking a greater part of his life, Ollie knows when to make compromises. Hence, he has asked Nancy out on a proper date. Since her comeback, it has all progressed into something too quickly. They sit and wait for their orders in Nando's restaurant.

"So, what's this fancy date all about Ollie, I never saw you as the dating type."

"Well, thanks for the compliment. Can a brother not show his wife a good time?"

"Wife now huh, is this how you announce my promotion?"

"It's something that's been on my mind. I like you a lot Nancy, and I don't think I show it plenty enough."

"Like, as in you like ice cream?"

"Come on, don't burst my balls Nancy, you understand me."

"No, I don't, please rephrase your statement."

"I mean, you are a beautiful, intelligent and loyal woman. I like that about you, and I think that's how we have come this far."

"Oh, how about, I am caring, compassionate, sexy, forgiving and amazing in bed?"

"Forgiving, yes. Compassionate, ok. Amazing in bed, now that's all down to me, I think."

"Whatever, you are just a hot body. I am the full package, how about that?"

"Oh, so I am just a sperm donor huh, shameless woman."

"Well, a girl has got to eat. Look what swallowing you is doing to me," she stands up and gives him a twirl, showing off her curvaceous body.

"Classy. Um, sit down please."

"Why? Am I embarrassing you with all this junk, baby?"

"No, I get it. I am very proud, I tell you."

"You should, because you are one lucky fool to have me," she says, as she sits back down.

"About that, do I really have you?"

"Yeah boo, you've got me. Are you too blind to see that? Unlike you, I don't like you, I love you. Like is how you feel about your shoes or phone. I love you, Baba. I have loved you for a long time, long before I met you. Long before Deena came along. I don't know how, since I was so young, but I just knew it. I have never loved anyone else since then."

"Wow, you... you mean that? I must say, you have just shook me to my boots. I knew we had something special, but I wasn't expecting that."

"Yes, I do. All the love I have ever known or felt was with you. Should I tell everyone here, will you believe me then?"

"Nah, I get it. It's just, I am a serious kind of guy. I believe you are special, and I don't want to be one of those men who are too blind to see what's in front of them until it's gone. Once I commit, there is no going back. So, I ask you, should I commit to you Nancy Seke?"

"I mean, don't get me wrong here but, don't you have a wife already, ain't you already committed to her?"

"I am committed to her, but I have long fallen in love with you Nancy. For those two years we were apart, there was never a day that went by without me reminiscing about you, about us. I really and truly feel you are my person too Nancy, regardless of our predicament."

"You are not planning on leaving her for me, are you? Just so we are clear."

"I am not, and I will not. Is that ok with you?"
