((Just a note, this AU is based on a timeline. The original Inspector Gadget, then the newer ones, and then Gadget And The Gadgetinis. In GATG, Talen still works for Mad, Digit and Fidget are still there instead of Brain, and Penny is here around 15. I suggest watching all of the shows/programmes of the cartoon before reading, but that is up to you. You can find the original inspector gadget clips and Gadget And The Gadgetinis episodes on youtube or DVDs and the newer one is still on Amazon and Netflix to watch.
Also, this isn't a batim chapter because this book is for fandoms in general, not just batim. The AU itself is about the backstory of how Fidget became a Mad agent, aiming at the main plot of the AU. This is from a random point in time within the story, a snippet of it, basically shortened. I am going to make this into an entire story, so you're seeing some of it early! I'm writing this in the process of a request so it may seem rushed at certain points, but Nevertheless, Enjoy!))
Attention focused on Madcat as she hissed, bearing their teeth at the boy that stood before themself and her owner. The boy, Talen, wore a purple hooded jacket, short-sleeved, which was striped on the arms and zipper with a lighter shade. On his legs were dark grey leggings with the same light purple stripe going down, which then led to some big purple boots, which also had areas with the colour. He wore purple as it was MAD's signature colour. He also thought it looked hot on him, so he didn't often complain. His hair was black and spiked upwards thanks to hair gel, and it completed his look. He didn't know what he would do without his hair gel.
Madcat, the shaded grey feline, hated Talen. She often liked to make his life worse, which she found rather enjoyable. Madcat was the second in command, despite not even being able to speak the human language or go on missions. Talen was what seemed to be the third. He was quite young, which led to him being naive and thinking he was above others, and he joked around quite a lot. Their boss, and Madcat's owner, was Dr Claw, the head of MAD. He was Talen's uncle, and likely only took him in to do the dirty work for him, as he didn't really have anywhere else to go. In fact, his background is quite a mystery. Dr Claw finds it much easier to boss Talen around than sending his henchman to do so instead, which he doesn't do as often anymore.
Dr Claw sat in his chair, Madcat perched in his lap. He stroked her, and she went quiet, only after giving Talen a sinister smile. In front of them was a desk with many electronics and laptops. One screen showed many pictures and silent clips of Talen being caught on camera when trying to steal something or trying to spy somewhere.
It wasn't looking good for Talen, so he decided to try and get out of the situation like he usually does. "I feel like you're mad at me.. but there's no need! Heh, you see it was all-"
Dr Claw balled his fist and smashed it against the side of the chair, interrupting his nephew. The metal of his arm made a loud noise as it stretched. The chair made short-circuited for a minute as the neon lights flickered, the vicious cat picture on the back going on and off for a minute as the arm emitted real electricity, such as it would in a cartoon. Madcat jumped up from her owner's lap at this with a high-pitched screech, clawing herself in the ceiling in shock.
"No, Talen." Dr Claw started, "Once again, you have been caught multiple times trying to steal something for my plans or stop that cursed Inspector Gadget, and every time I have to come to save you."
"More like you punish me and leave me to save myself.." Talen mumbled. Only Madcat heard, hissing as she clambered down onto the desk next to the boy. Dr Claw stood u and picked up a small remote and pressed down on a triangular button, the screen changes automatically.
The screen now showed something else. No, it wasn't a giant hoover (vacuum) that could suck up their enemies. No, it wasn't some rejuvenating water that could allow those who drink to it to live forever. No, it wasn't a helmet that would allow you to control giant statues.
Instead, it was the 'Gadget Gang', as known. Inspector Gadget, Penny, and the gadgetinis. One character specifically was in almost all the footage, Fidget. Fidget was one of the gadgetinis, he had the same design as his twin, only an orange instead of a blue, and he acted quite differently.
"I'm sure you are quite familiar with the two Gadgetinis, correct?" Talen nodded, unsure of where this was going for once. His uncle had hardly ever acknowledged the gadgetinis. "I've noticed how the two mechanical nuisances are always ruining my plans to eliminate Gadget.-"
"Talen, stop fighting with Madcat and listen to me or else you'll be cleaning up her hairballs later too." Claw interrupted himself. Talen immediately shut up and put his hands behind his back, trying his best to ignore Madcat. Cleaning her litterbox was bad enough, he didn't want to do even more. "And if Madcat doesn't want to keep quiet, they'll have to clean the shark tank with their bare paws. Alright? Now let me speak."
"As I was saying.." Dr Claw continued, giving the two a sideways glance before focusing on his presentation. "You would think that simply getting rid of the source would do in our favour, but we have tried multiple times" -emphasis on multiple- "to do so. However each time, they come back, which led me to develop my master plan, that should finally get rid of Gadget, once and for all."
"And that is?" Talen questioned, crossing his arms in a 'get on with it' manner.
"We'll simply have to Gadgetinis work in our favour. We'll kidnap the little nuisances, either during a mission or while they are powered down, and install the service chips into them, so they follow MY every command," he explained.
Talen, however, looked like he was regretting his life choices, which he likely was. "What service chips? and HOW?"
"That doesn't matter!" His uncle snapped at him. You're going to retrieve those chips from the museum and bring them back to me. Step two of the plan will commence later." He explained, forgetting his previous statement.
"And before you ask when, the answer is now. Now shoo, I can't have you interrupting me once I enter my Zen Garden, Of Destruction." A loud boom was heard as one would imagine a picture of a zen garden with a giant statue of a claw, such as the one on his hand, in the middle of the garden. The garden then changed, followed by the atmosphere and things around it burned and screaming could be faintly heard. It really set the tone for 'Best Villan Ever'.
A trapdoor then opened beneath Talon's feet, only before he tried running away from the pit beneath him, but just falling down into it instead. Of course, it didn't lead to a shark or snake pit, for once, but whether it led to, Talen would get out unscarred.
What the boy knew was that he had to break into the museum and steal these 'service chips', and he could only count on Penny being there.
Oh, and gadget and the gadgetinis he supposed. He would have to stay secretive though. It wouldn't work in their favour if they figured out what MAD was up to.
