the ticking sound coming from a grandfather clock resounded across the spacious manor as if it was a music that was left behind for good.
the park household was usually quite and serene ever since seonghwa went to work in europe. Park seonghwa, the oldest among the two children of seomin and hyejin park, he was viewed as the trophy child of their family. At a very young age, seonghwa was forced to take extra tutoring session so he would improve his scores on every subject, and when I see every— I mean all of them.
it's no surprise that seonghwa's marks was fairly high— well he took it too serious, just like what his parents wanted to— nevertheless, seonghwa graduated and to his luck, a well known hospital in Europe took him, why? well you guess— it's because his father used to work with the director's in that hospital.
back to the story, you've been oddly quite since earlier, the siblings noticed it so they asked you a few questions but the conversation ended with your simple nod and a couple of "yeah", seonghwa thought that his presence makes you uncomfortable so he diverted the topic to her sister who is now munching on the biscuits that seonghwa bought with him.
"so," he took a sip from his coffee "soojin, how's school? " he emphasized the word 'school' knowing that her sister isn't like him who follows everything that their parents would say.
"still a school" she replied, attention still on the biscuits.
seonghwa mentally scoffed, thinking that his sister is really hard headed. Well he thinks it's better that way, he don't want soojin to end up being a puppet like him.
"your graduation is coming, what's your plan?" he tried once again, hoping that it would knock some sense on her.
Soojin didn't reply as she sips on her coffee- it was too bitter— her face crumpled making chowon suppress a laugh.
"ahh, school there school here" she throws her head backward making it land on the soft cushion before her, seonghwa chuckled at her silly actions "cut me some slack, mother has been forcing me to take extra study sessions with that damned perverted man!" seonghwa's face fell into a serious one, so she didn't change— the boy wasn't really happy about the idea of her sister taking extra classes, well- it wasn't that necessary because soojin is highly intelligent, he thinks.
chowon noticed the tension as she tried to break it by coughing not so loud- well in her perspective but it was actually loud to the point that both of the sibling was looking at her.
"s-sorry, I accidentally choked on my own saliva.." the two obviously didn't buy her lame and embarassing excuse but soojin was thankful for that.
"oh!" seonghwa suddenly bounced up from his seat "I forgot to give you my present, wait here" he said before quickly disappearing in the endless hallway.
both of the girls sighed in relief, soojin eyed her bestfriend suspiciously, a lot of questions lingering on her little head, why is chowon acting so uptight when her brother is around as if they weren't a trio before.
for the sake of her own sanity she decided to lightly kick chowon to gain her attention in which she succeeded, chowon looks at her before mouthing a quiet but strong "what?!"
"we'll talk later" soojin mouthed back making chowon's face crumpled in confusion, it wasn't even half a day yet the happenings is already overwhelming for chowon, the room felt soundless and the only thing that they can hear is their loud thoughts.
what is definitely going on?
it didn't last as seonghwa came back with a paper bag in hand, he gave it to his little sister before shooting chowon a apologetic look. "sorry chowon, if I only knew that I'm going to meet you here then I should've bought you one too." he felt really sorry.
chowon shook her head sideways while she stifled a kind smile "oh no need, it's okay!"
a long pause
"another dress?" soojin inquired with her one brow raised while examining the whole apparel.
seonghwa shoot him a soft glare "at least it's better than that," he pointed soojin's outfit right now "you dress like a soldier"
soojin gasped dramatically "how nice of you to point that out" she rolled her eyes "you should've bought one for chowon too, she'll probably need it."
"do nurses wear dresses as their uniform now?" he asked "korea has improved a lot.."
"no, you idiot!" soojin throw the dress to him, in which it perfectly land on his face
"what I mean chowon would probably need this because it's the current outfit trend in Europe, right?"
"chowon? europe?" seonghwa asked, he was definitely getting lost at the conversation. Chowon watched the siblings bicker while lightly shaking her head in process.
"yes!" soojin excitedly yelled making the two flinch "she's planning to study in europe too" the girl proudly said.
seonghwa's jaw dropped as he turned his attention to the girl beside him "you're going to study in abroad?!" he loudly questioned making the poor lady nod shyly
chowon bit her lower lip, trying to maintain her sanity infront of the park siblings. Ever since seonghwa has arrived, a sudden nauseous feeling blooms in her system.
"well well, that's good for you chowon, you're a great student afterall" her cheeks flared up at the sudden compliment.
the afternoon coffee talk with the parks went smoothly— on a second thought, it didn't. Chowon was awkward all of the time, her gaze was focused somewhere and her thoughts is literally flying everywhere! from what her and soojin will talk about to what she will eat for dinner later.
speaking of the female, her supposed to be ' serious talk ' with chowon was rudely interrupted by their personal bodyguard who carries the order of her father.
it's literally afternoon and there is no sign of any vehicles across the road, chowon who was left with no choice, she politely accepted seonghwa's offer to take her home, the whole ride was quite and the only thing you could hear is chowon's heart pounding loudly on her chest, the afternoon heat wasn't even helping her system to calm down at all.
poor seonghwa, he was stuck in a awkward silence for about an hour.

"thank you for the ride!"
I said before closing the car door, seonghwa lowered the window as he acknowledged me with a smile.
"No worries, little chowon!" that was the last thing he said before driving away.
the whole journey was really awkward yet somehow light because of seonghwa's carefree presence, looking at him feels like I'm with a mighty greek god.
"welcome to evergreen, how can I help you?" a young male with lavender colored hair greeted me, looking a little troubled while jotting down something on his paper.
"a regular coffee please," he nods in acknowledgment "and two garlic bread"
"a regular coffee and two garlic bread-" he finally looked up to meet my gaze, his eyes widened and his small lips parted.
"it's been awhile, Wooyoung "
