One Day at a Time

Marinette shifted in her bed, smiling in her sleep, surrounded by warmth and love. She yawned and stretched a bit and opened her eyes to a new day, last night in a haze. Her body tired from all the pleasure, her mind was bringing back sweet memories of Chat kissing her and then her sitting on top of him getting undressed and then she put on the blindfold to absorb the rest of the night only through her fingertips...

The blindfold! Why is it on my forehead and not my eyes? And why is Adrien Agreste naked in my bed?!?

She quickly put the strip of fabric back in place and lay awake figuring out what had just happened. She could feel her heart trying to break through her rib cage as the realization dawned on her.

Adrien is Chat. Chat Noir is Adrien Agreste.

The guy she's loved all along is Chat who's loved her all along and they've just been dancing around each other all those years being too mysterious to have a proper conversation. They broke each other's hearts and were jealous of themselves. Just wow. She's spent the night with the love of her life and she didn't even know it. Now the practical consequences.

Do I wake him up and tell him everything? Do I wake him up but keep the Ladybug part to myself? Nope, need more time to think about it.

Marinette hugged Adrien from behind making sure she'd wake him up in the process to give him time to transform, kiss her goodbye and leave. She kissed his neck and inhaled his scent one last time.

"Claws out!" she could hear him whisper. Then she felt his lips on hers.

"Goodbye, princess, I'll see you around" she could hear him say as his breath warmed her ear.

"Goodbye, Chat" Marinette whispered pretending to be still half-asleep as he vanished into the early morning air.

"So somebody finally got himself a girlfriend! That calls for a celebration... let's say one or two tons of cheese?"

"Do you ever NOT think about food? Also not sure we're dating, I told her we'd take it one day at a time, whatever that means. She could be in danger if we go public and who would want to have a secret boyfriend who can only come at night and can only fuck you when your eyes are closed..."

"Ugh, Adrien, TMI, I don't care about your love life, I just wanted the cheese, really."

"Eat up, I need to get to school! SHE will be there and she will be all happy and smiley and I will know it's my doing and... I won't be able to kiss her or tell her anything... and she'll be talking to the gang about last night and I'll have to keep my cool... let's stay home, Plagg."

"I have this crazy idea... why don't you break up with her as Chat and ask her out as Adrien and you can just date as normal teenagers and get rid of the secrets and blindfolds and us watching... I mean ME watching. How about that?"

"Break up with Mari after sleeping with her? Are you crazy? That would totally break her heart... and mine. I have to keep seeing her as Chat and keep my distance as Adrien, don't want her to be torn between my two selves."

"I think I'll just skip school and only do fencing lessons and Chinese. I can just leave for school, then get back to my room through the window, get some sleep and be back in front of the school just in time for the car to pick me up and bring me back home, how easy is that?"

Plagg only rolled his eyes in disapproval, but that was about all he could do.

As hard as Marinette was trying not to be super obvious at school, she was radiant and couldn't hide the fact that she'd just had the best night of her life. The only thing she was really afraid of was facing Adrien and not showing she knows. How can he take it? Fuck her at night and barely talk to her in class? How could he keep his Chat persona so separate from his civilian form? Lost in her thoughts she finally reached her classroom, late as usual. She sat next to Alya, but there was no sign of Adrien.

"Hey, Nino, have you seen Adrien?" she inquired.

"Not since he so abruptly left yesteryear morning. Probably a flu or something, he texted me he's not coming in today and asked me to send him homework."

Flu my ass. What a coward. He couldn't face me yesterday after going down on me the night before and he can't face me today after waking up in my bed?

Marinette decided it was time to talk to him and set things straight. If there's an akuma attack and Paris is destroyed because they can't function around each other... she wouldn't have that. She didn't have Adrien's schedule memorized anymore, but she still knew how to find out when his after-school lessons were and whether he was attending. If she was right about the flu being just a stupid excuse to avoid her, then he would probably still go to his fencing and Chinese not telling his father anything. So when school was over, Marinette sneaked up to the back of his house and when coast was clear, she transformed and jumped into his room through an open window. There she waited.

Adrien couldn't focus on fencing and lost terribly to Kagami. She noticed his mind was elsewhere, but she wasn't in the mood to talk about what she rightly assumed were relationship problems. He just left for his Chinese lesson and then home barely noticing what he was doing or saying, his body being on auto-pilot, his mind trying to work things out.

I should be happy. I should be the happiest guy in Paris. I've just spent the night of my life with a girl I love so what's the deal? Why do I feel trapped and can't see the bright future she deserves? Shit, I hope there isn't an akuma attack today, I would totally fuck up. Ladybug is the last person I want to deal with today.

Lost in his thoughts he entered his room dragging himself slowly to the bed when he notice it was occupied. He had to blink twice to focus on the red smudge and realize who it was lying on his bed.

"L-ladybug? Wha... what are you doing here? I... is there an akuma on the loose?"

"Oh, come here, lover boy, come sit next to me."

Is this another dream or what? Ladybug smiled when he obeyed, only too eagerly.

"I think we need to talk" she started.

"It's getting too complicated even for me... and I'm the smart one here" she smirked and he didn't contradict her.

"Well... I guess Chat Noir is attracted to me while I'm attracted to you and Marinette loves both Chat and you and you like Marinette but can't face her so... what do you think we should do about it?" she decided to tease him a bit more.

"I...I don't know what you're talking about and... where you get your information from... but..."

"Adrien Agreste, do you love Marinette?" She asked sharply.

"Yes, yes I do, but..." Ladybug put her finger on his lips.

"No buts. Close your eyes and don't open them until I say so."

"Spots off."

He opened his eyes in surprise when he felt her soft lips on his and jumped away in dismay.

"Whoa, what has just happened?"

"I told you to keep your eyes shut, silly. I should have brought the blindfold we used last night, I guess."

Mari's eyes were smiling at Adrien as she looked at him, waiting for him to connect all the dots.

"So... you're... and you know I'm... and we... ?"

"Yes. I'm Ladybug and since this morning I've known you're Chat Noir and we spent last night in mutual orgasms... and since you didn't show up at school today and I was feeling the confusion you're experiencing right now, I thought we needed to talk. And kiss. Will you kiss me already?"

Adrien finally snapped out of his his dream to realize everything was actually happening for real and that he was indeed sitting on his bed talking to Marinette who was also Ladybug. He not only kissed her, but tipped her over to lie next to him on the bed, his hands going up and down her torso as if he still couldn't believe she was real.

"So, if you're the smart one, what do we do now? Do we date as Adrien and Mari and keep Ladybug and Chat separate? Do we give up superhero lives to keep each other safe? Do we also date as Ladybug and Chat? Do we need a press conference for that?"

"Slow down, Chat, you know what? Why don't we take it one day at a time?"
