Darling, Pass Me the Gun

"Love, wake up. We lost them!" Said Mune in a sweet voice. River and Mune, lovers married for two years, were fleeing from the scene of a bank robbery. They had gotten away with 60,000 dollars and were on their way to cross the state border into Mexico. "It won't be long; we should be there in about 5 hours. We do need to stop though, we're almost out of gas." Said Mune. "Yeah, yeah whatever, I don't care." River had always been a bit mean, but Mune knew that they loved him. About an hour later they pulled up to a gas station in the middle of nowhere. There was dust everywhere and it looked run down and old; however, this was the only gas station for miles. "I'm hungry. I'm getting a snack." said River. "Alright my love, see you in a bit." Mune stood outside and filled up the tank, when suddenly he heard a loud noise. It was a gunshot.

What was that? Are you in danger my love!? Mune thought before he rushed inside, but when he got there, he was mortified. There was the store worker, gun in hand bleeding on the floor. There was a bullet that went straight through his stomach. Mune screamed. What's going on?! What happened?! There's no way River did this, right!? "W-what happened?!" Mune exclaimed. "Meh, nothing. He pulled out a gun on me, so I shot him." said River in a completely calm tone. "Nothing?! He's going to die! We have to call the police; they can save him!" Mune said, panicked. River turned to look at Mune and yelled, "The police?! Are you crazy?! No. Let's just take some money and leave! Who cares if he dies?" Mune paused. "W-who cares if he dies?! You'll be a murderer! I can't just let someone die!" River paused and then, they aimed their gun at Mune.

Mune was shocked. He stood there, frozen in place. "If you're going to snitch on me, then I'm going to have to take you out," said River. Mune didn't know what to say. His heart broke. Then, shaking, He pulled out his gun and aimed it at River. "River, you love me right!? Don't do this please! I... I love you! I can't handle this... My love, please!" Mune said, knees weak. He has just been betrayed by the one person he had. Here he is, gun in hand aimed at his lover, shaking. While River remained completely calm. River looks away, they take a deep breath and sighs. Then, they let out a little chuckle and slowly it turns into a hysterical laugh. "I never loved you. You were my toy, nothing more. I kept you to do all the dirty work that I didn't want to, but you didn't know that. You thought I was in love with you! Hah. I could never love someone as pathetic as you." Mune let a single tear run down his face along his cheek. River's words cut him like a blade "No... you're lying! Hahaha! Funny! So... Funny...! "He burst into tears, his eyes flooding. He cried longing to wake up from this terrible dream. Then River said in a sweet almost comforting tone, "Darling, pass me the gun."

"No! Y-you used me... You hurt me... You betrayed me! I lived for you. I would've died for you. Now, it's you that'll die for me." Mune said then quietly he whispered, "I'm sorry, my love." "You wouldn't dare!" River exclaimed. Mune stayed quiet and pulled the trigger... but... nothing came out. The gun was empty. A mix of panic and relief came over Mune. On one hand he wouldn't have to murder the one he loved, on another, he knew that he'd die by the hands of his lover. He would die without anyone. Alone. Never to be loved. Mune stood quietly and dropped his gun. "Fine, if this is what fate has for me, so be it." Mune said with tears running down his face, defeated he looked at his lover. "I'll always love you, darling." Then River pulled the trigger.

Now you probably expected a happy ending. However, that is not the case. It's quite a sad ending... For River at least. When River pulled that trigger the gun was empty. Frustrated River threw their gun to the floor and tackled Mune. "How dare you pull that 'I'll always love you' bullshit on me! I hate you, always have always will!" River said in a blind rage; however, at that moment the cops came rushing in and arrested the two lovers. And that's where this story ends.
