Will pov

It was my first day at my new school and I was losing my mind. What if people didn't like me? What If I didn't make any friends? What if I flunked out? I had to admit school had never been my thing, I have always gotten horrible grades, and just wasn't interested overall. I was okay at making friends but I was never super popular.

As I entered the building and went to my locker the fear really sank in. I opened my locker and a guy went to the locker next to mine and opened it. After he had gotten all his things and dropped his backpack off he looked at me.

"Hey, you must be new, I'm Frank."

"I'm Will."

"Well good luck, most of the teachers here are pretty easy going, and the kids are really nice. I'll see you later. And if you need someone to sit with at lunch just come find me and my friends, we'd be glad to let you sit with us."

"Thanks." I smiled and walked away. At least I wouldn't have to sit it in the bathrooms or the library at lunch. I went into my first class and my teacher showed me my seat right next to a boy with jet black hair and chocolate brown eyes.

"Hey I'm Will."

"No."

"What do you mean no?" I was seriously confused. How could he say no, all I said was my name.

"It's too early in the morning to socialize."

"It's never to early to make new friends!"

"Yes it is, for example now is too early."

"Well when is it not too early?" I asked rolling my eyes.

"1:00 PM. Come find me then and maybe I'll be able to put up with your annoying optimism."

After that the teacher started class and I had to admit I was really  confused. But the kid next to me (I hadn't gotten his name) wasn't even paying attention. After class I caught up with him.

"What class do you have next?"

"English."

"Me too! M-maybe we could walk together?"

"Ugh fine, am I ever  going to get rid of you?"

I chose not to respond, but it turns out the very next class he had advanced science and I had history. To put it simply, history was pure torture. All we did was sit there while the teacher talked nonsense about random topics and then gave us an assignment that had nothing to do with was he talked about. Then I had science. It was simple, but I was grateful for that. Everything else in this school seemed so advanced, and I didn't think I could survive another class.

Thankfully, after that I had lunch. I went to find Frank and his friends and it turned out that he, his girlfriend Hazel, another girl named Annabeth, and the kid in my math and English, Nico. He looked a little annoyed with Frank for inviting me to sit with them, but he seemed nice enough. Just wasn't a morning person I guess.

The rest of the day passed in a blur, I had French, which I failed at spectacularly, a bunch of classes where we just sat there and did nothing for some reason, and a class where the teacher didn't even show up. To say I was relieved when the final bell finally rang was an understatement. We went out to get on the school busses and the only empty seat left was right next to Nico.

"Hey," I said sitting down next to him. He glared at me. "How was your day?" I was trying to make conversation but he really didn't seem interested he popped in some earbuds and listened to music until our stop. It turns out he lives across the street from me. He went into a nice house with Hazel, his half sister, who I'd met at lunch.

"Hey honey." My mom said when I went in.

"Hey."

"How was your first day?" She asked with a smile.

"It was. . . Interesting."
