it had only been a few days since her life turned into chaos overnight and Lucille was afraid of being seen out again. She hadn't left the apartment she shared with her boyfriend, James, since the day she saw her pictures circulating. She pleaded for James to do the same, but of course he was reluctant to do so, and he didn't understand why she was so afraid.
Lucille and James had meet shortly after her escape from her father and after the great loss of her friend. So you could say he was the only and closest thing she had to a family. She couldn't bare to lose him too, and that's why she had to hide the truth from him.
"Who would've thought my girlfriend would turn into a celebrity overnight?!" He teased once more, unaware of how uneasy she had been the past few days.
"James—"
"I mean, you're beautiful so I'm not even surprised there but—"
"James!" Lucille showed a displeased face, which shut him up real fast.
He cleared his throat before speaking again. "Will you tell me what's really wrong here?"
She couldn't tell him the truth. How was she supposed to tell him that them meeting was only a coincidence and that the real reason she moved to California in the first place was to run away from a murderer??
