Stephen was sitting at a bench by stark's pond. He was thinking. About his wife, his son, his job.. just his life in general. He wasn't happy, hadn't been for a long time. Nothing felt right.
He was looking across the pond when someone's hand touched his shoulder. Stephen turned around."Hey, you all right?" It was Randy Marsh.
"Of course. What do you want?" Stephen replied harshly.
"I just saw you over here, you seemed kind of weird, so I'm just checking on you." Randy said and sat down beside him.
"Why do you care?" Stephen asked and looked away. Randy sat down beside him.
"Pff forget it.." Randy looked at Stephen. "You want to do something? The wife won't be home 'til dinner so I'm looking for something to do."
"Like what?"
"Just watch a game, drink a few beers, the usual."
"The usual.." Stephen repeated quietly. "It's always just 'the usual' I guess."
"What?" Randy stood up. "Nevermind let's go."
"Okay, sure." Stephen followed.
They walked over to the Marsh's house. As they walked they chatted a bit, just the usual, the weather, football and how annoying they thought their wives were. Nothing interesting. Stephen glanced at Randy. He had always thought he was a decent guy, handsome too.
They arrived at the Marsh's house and went inside. The two sat down on the couch and Randy put the game on."So who do you think will win?" Stephen asked.
"I don't know, the game just started." Randy said and shrugged.
"Oh yeah.."
"Are you okay, Stephen? You seem off today."
"Randy?" Stephen started.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think it's gay to think another man is.. you know.."
"What do you mean?"
"If he's handsome?"
"Is it gay to think another dude is handsome? Depends on the context I guess. But it's kinda gay to ask if something is gay, man." Randy said and chuckled. "Why do you ask?"
"Oh, no reason just read an article recently about that topic." Stephen said quickly.
"You read an article about being gay? That's also pretty gay." Randy laughed. He then paused. "Not that there's anything wrong with being gay." He added.
"Well I'm not gay!" Stephen replied and looked at Randy. "..are you?"
"What? No, I married a chick." Randy said. "Why are you being so weird today?"
"I'm not being weird."
"Then what's with all the gay questions??" Randy asked annoyed as he turned his head from the tv and to Stephen.
"I just.." Stephen's eyes met Randy's. "I just think I might have a fever or something."
"Yeah.." Randy moved closer to Stephen's face, inspecting it. "Your face is getting kind of red so you might actually have a fever."
"Y-yeah.." Stephen froze until Randy backed away.
"Maybe we should get you a blanket or something?" Randy suggested. He stretched over Stephen's lap to get a blanket that was on the other side of the couch. Stephen's face got even warmer and his heartbeat increased. Randy straightened himself back up and put the blanket over Stephen's lap.
"Thanks.." Stephen managed to whisper.
"Oh man, now your voice is getting weaker too!" Randy looked worried at Stephen. "Let me feel your temperature.." he put the back of his hand on Stephen's forehead.
"Is it hot?" Stephen asked almost shyly.
"Pretty hot." Randy looked into Stephens' eyes. "I think we have to get you in bed." He stood up and took Stephen's hand.
"Get me in bed??" Stephen started sweating.
"Yeah, 'cause you're sick. I'm gonna take you home so you can rest." Randy replied.
"Oh.." Stephen sighed quietly. Randy pulled Stephen up from the couch. It was a bit quicker than Stephen expected so he lost his balance and fell into Randy's arms. Randy held him up. He hadn't realized how hard he had pulled him from the couch.
"Sorry, you okay?" Randy asked and straightened Stephen out.
"Y-yeah." Stephen looked down at Randy's chest. The top button on his shirt had come loose. He saw a glimpse of his chest hair.
"Stephen?"
"Yeah?" Stephen looked into Randy's eyes.
"What's really going on with you?"
"I-uhh.. I might be into men.."
