It was another rough morning for Hex, The Sun was nowhere to be found and the only thing you would see is the floating city above them called the "UpWorld"
The only things illuminating their City being the neon lights of the stores and homes.
"Morning Hex, The usual?" The man with dirty blonde hair asked. "Yep, thanks Josh" She answered and handed him 4 Silver Coins.
"Mhm Squid~" She said and licked her bottom lip before digging in "You weren't here yesterday morning" Josh said and looked at the Girl infront of him. "I sorta ran out of money.." She exclaimed and drank some water.
"You do know that I can always just pay for you, How can you not remember? Did you eat lunch yesterday? Dinner???" He asked a looked at Her in disbelief. "Sorry Okay? I had business with someone from the other side of the city, I left early" She answered and frowned.
Heaving a sigh, He continued to wipe the glasses. "By the way, Dan asked for you, He came by. He told me he needed help" He said and placed the glasses in the cabinet.
"Why? What does He want from me Again?" She asked, lifting her eyebrow in confusion. "People from the UpWorld snuck past the border and killed two kids from the Orphanage" He said and looked at her reaction.
Orphanage... Orphanage?!! She thought and slammed her fist onto the wooden table. "Here." The boy said and handed her a small amethyst ball.
"Thanks.." She said and walked out of the food court.
As she arrived at the Orphanage, She saw her Friend Dan. Who was a Doctor, treating an injured Orphan. "Does it hurt?" He asked and patted the Orphans head. The Orphan shook their head and smiled.
"Dan..." Hex said and appeared behind him. "Hex..." He answered and got up.
"Sorry for bothering this cute reunion moment but- You two are being called to the office" a middle aged woman said and grinned before walking away.
"I'll show you where it is" Dan said and held her wrist.
"Yeah sure, just-" Hex said and whimpered slightly while puling her hand away. "Don't hold my hand like that Sheesh" She said and He just ignored her.
"Good Morning Doc" the Guard said and opened the door for Dan. Only for Dan, leaving Hex behind while she tried telling the guard she was with him.
"Sorry Hex but you're not allowed in" He said and frowned. "C'mon~!! I thought we were friends" She whined and The boy in front of her just sighed. "Its the rules Hex" He said again and Dan tapped his Shoulder. "She's with me" He said and Mazz Opened the door.
It wasn't the office yet unfortunately. There was still a long way to walk to.
"I- I personally thought it was already the office inside" she said and tucked her hands into her pockets. "We're almost there don't worry" Dan said and walked past her.
It was a boring walk, all Hex could see was Paintings of the old Odera. The old version which was rich and festive. The paintings of rulers and guardians. And some new generation leaders.
She wasn't really a big fan of law, government and the economy. She was the one breaking them anyway, her now Father-Figure Norman was always annoyed by her doings but was also the same kind as her. They were Criminals after all. Each and every one of them.
"That's my Dad..." She mumbled, loud enough for Dan to hear. "Him?" He said and stood beside her.
Hex's Father, Sir Lance Prudence. Was one of the most powerful soldiers/guardians, in the land of Odera. And when she was born, the second He heard her cry He promised to protect her.
Her Mother on the other hand, taught her how to make weapons like Guns, Grenades. Which somehow, became the thing she was very well known for.
Her Mother wasn't a criminal, She was rather..A Hostage.
Her Father was brutal.
He beat her Mother.
Sexually abused her.
Physically and verbally too.
It was hard for her yes, but she still loved him. Her Father was everything to her.
Until one Morning....
"You- you cheated on me?"
"So what?"
"What about Hex?! She's seven!"
"She's a demon anyways!"
"She is not!"
"Say what you want Witch, Never show your face to me ever again"
And with that, the Man got up and grabbed his things before slamming the front door.
Hex was just Seven that time..
Her Mother became an alcoholic.
Became pregnant.
And As a young girl, She witnessed her Mother stabbing her stomach, saw the blood dripping down her thighs and onto the floor.
Her Mother's faint screams.
Her tears.
The day after that, her Mom was announced dead. She had no one now..
"Mother..." She whispered and laid beside her Mother's corpse. "Mama.. wake up" She said and caressed her Mother's cheek.
"Hex? You okay?" Dan asked as He gripped the doorknob, Hex only nodded while walking away from the painting, her eyes furrowed as they entered the office. Only to be greeted by the devil himself.
"On behalf of Sir Titus, General Prudence was the one sent by the King of the UpWorld." A Woman with blonde hair said as She bowed to the two, Her heels clicking as She passed by Hex and Dan.
"Who would've thought that a Fucktard like you would become a General" Hex said and scoffed, "Hex..." Dan mumbled and looked back at her.
"Its alright Doc, I get it Dear. I'm sorry for what I did" He said and started to approach Hex, The girl growled and backed away making the man sigh.
"You left us for some other Woman. You're a Monster!" Hex yelled and took out a Gun, aiming it to her Father. "You seem tense" Dan said and looked at The older man in front of him. "How am I not gonna be tense? I'm being held at gun point!" He answered, panicking.
"Hex Put the gun down.." Dan commanded the Girl.
"Why am I here.." Hex asked and put her gun down.
"I'm glad you asked.."
