Harry's P.O.V
One of the best things of being in One Direction is travelling around the world. We had been exposed to so many amazing countries and people in such a short time, so when I Paul told me we were going to be spending a week camping, I was confused.
"You're going on tour with Union J, so it is important you get to know each other well. It would also do you good to get some fresh air and a down to earth vacation,"
"But camping?"
"Everything has been arranged, it is a really deserted forest, barely anybody camps there this time of year," Paul had said to me.
"Why? It's the summer, shouldn't a lot of people be camping that time of year?" I asked.
"I don't know, the fellow on the phone just assured me no people had called the time you were coming, and that is all I needed to know. The last thing you would want is a bunch of teenage girls finding out they are camping in the same area as you."
When I told the others, they looked skeptical.
"Camping…in the woods?" Zayn raised an eyebrow.
"What were you thinking, a hotel?" Liam smirked.
"With Union J? For a week…..will we have enough food?" Niall asked.
It was weird to be packing things such as sunscreen, bug spray and sleeping bags. I had camped when I was younger, but it had felt like it had been for ages.
Paul had bought enough tents, supplies and the like for the trip, and we met up with Union J the morning we were going to drive out to the forest. We had met them before we knew we were going to go on tour with them, but didn't know we didn't know each other super well. There was JJ, Jaymi, George and Josh, all from England. They are pretty cool lads, so I didn't worry we wouldn't get along.
I had a hunch we were going due to the fact there were a lot of articles and posts about how Louis and Zayn's fame had gotten to their heads after recent photos of them at a party had circulated. I had assumed that when we got back we would get a lot of photos taken with the captions of "One Direction coming back from camping!" "One Direction home from camping, they are just like you!"
Anyways, the entire thing was secret, and we were driven in tinted vans out of the city with Union J.
The drive took a few hours.
Management said they found a really distant, unknown campsite we would be going to. It was hundreds of years old, and the view was amazing.
Looking out the window, the sky was grey and dreary, not a typical summer day. Country side turned into trees and eventually forest.
We turned off the main highway and down a dirt road, which was in need of fixing as it had a lot of potholes. We came up to a mossy wooden sign.
COOLROCK PARKIN'G' (the letter g was missing)
Est: 1901
"Here we are…." our driver, Greg called.
Jaymi looked out the window and made a face.
We climbed out the van and looked around as our backpacks were unloaded form the van.
It had a cool and silent feel. Most of the trees were super tall and mossy. And as Paul had promised, no other cars were in the parking lot. A rotten old wooden chair had fallen over a few feet away from me.
"Here? Are you sure?" Louis asked, checking his phone. "I'm not getting access here," he frowned.
"You shouldn't,"
I turned around to see an old man sneering. He was wearing a muddy plaid top and muddy faded jeans. He had lit a cigarette and was leaning against the closest tree.
"Ray Hunters?" Greg asked, walking up to the man. He nodded, but was staring at Niall.
"We spoke on the phone. I don't see any campsites around, is there a trail to the sites?"
Ray was still staring at Niall, which made me feel uncomfortable and walked over to help Niall adjust his backpack straps.
"There aren't any….sites," Ray spat.
"What?"
"You hike into the forest and if you've found a good location, you can stop and set up there. Don't worry, you won't go off Coolrock grounds, they go on for miles and miles, just like the forest," Ray said, luckily he had taken his eyes off Niall to look at Greg.
"What if we get lost?" George asked.
"You won't. There are trails and marked trees. I also took the liberty of drawing you a map," Ray handed me a wet piece of paper.
"….Because I know how bad it would look… if the international heartthrobs got lost at my campsite," Ray emphasized on international heartthrobs and I glared at him. It's not like we like this anymore than you.
"You won't," Greg promised. "This is completely under wraps, you won't get hundreds of teenage girls invading your site,"
"Yes. Well, do you want to come to the lodge to pay in advance, or pay after? If you pay in advance you are saving twenty dollars," Ray flicked his cigarette to the ground.
"I'm here to pay, show the way," Greg said.
Ray and Greg began walking out of the muddy parking lot, leaving the nine of us alone.
"Did you see that man, Ray? He kept staring at Niall!" I whispered to Zayn.
"What? I doubt it," Zayn shook it off.
"No, I am serious, and he had the weirdest expression, I mean, he is not normal,"
"Who really is normal Harry?" Jaymi laughed.
"I don't like it here," Niall was mumbling.
"Oh come on Niall, we packed double the amount of food than we actually need, just for you, I don't even think we'll be able to finish it all to be honest," Louis laughed.
"Not that, it just doesn't feel right here. I can't explain it…"
"Are you coming?" Greg yelled to us.
"Coming!"
We all began heading uphill when I turned to see Niall still in the parking lot. He was staring out into the forest, biting his lip.
"Niall! You coming?" Louis yelled.
"Yeah, coming."
