God, have I mentioned I hate people? Dang it. I'm gonna start ranting again on how stupid life is and all that. Gonna try and keep that to a minimum today. So if I start ranting, I'll slap myself. Mentally, though.
I walk through the double doors of the high school. My eyes run over the wave of people, looking for my couple friends. I see Alec and rush over to him. "Hey, dude," I say. His brown eyes make their way towards me.
"Ember, hey. Um...c-can I talk to you?" I give him a confused look, but nod. "A-alone, I mean. I don't want Sam butting into our conversation. Okay?" I smile at him, and take in his wavy chestnut hair and freckles along his button nose.
He leads me away from most of the people, and into the library. We go to the far corner of the room, the part with gigantic windows, allowing a view of rolling hills and forests. He sits at the window-seat and motions for me to sit as well.
"Um, is everything okay, Alec?" He sighs. "No. But I just want to talk to you about something." I nod, urging him to go on. "Okay. Well, say there's this...girl I like...how would I tell her?" I gape at his words.
Not once have I ever heard Alec say he was attracted to another person before. Sure, he's blushed horribly in front of a few chicks before, but that was only because he thought they were pretty. He's never told me of having any feelings towards another living human being before. Yeah, it's not really any of my business, but he's my BFF.
"Oh. Well...uhm...I guess try flirting and she'll get the hint. I think." His brown eyes widen when I say 'flirt'. "F-flirt?! B-but how?!" I giggle and his cheeks flare. "Uh...well...I'd say try being a little close to her and compliment her. Girls like compliments."
He smiles. "Thank you, Ember. You're pretty good at giving advice." I return his bright smile. "You're welcome. And you're a great listener." Alec looks at me for a moment. "You have really pretty eyes," he says, staring right into my eyes.
I blink and blush. "Oh. Thanks." I try to look away, but his Bambi eyes beg me to keep looking at him. Oh God. Alec...likes me. That's why he wanted ME alone, to give him advice, MY opinion. "Alec..." "Ember...I-I....we need to go to...to class."
I inwardly sigh in relief. Maybe he doesn't like me. But the way he looked at me...his pleading expression, longing look, and lips parted slightly, I swear he looked like he was in love. Not that I know anything about love. But just...you get the idea.
I get up quickly and walk towards the library doors. "Ember?" Alec's voice in my ear, very close. I turn to him, noticing how close he is to my face. He must've noticed it too because he starts blushing madly. "I...I...like.......you."
My heart stops momentarily, then it starts thumping faster than normal. No, I didn't have a thing for my Bambi-eyed friend. I've just never had anyone like me before. "W-what?" I ask, nervously, hoping I misheard him.
"I...like...your shirt....I mean." I blink and sigh. "Th-thanks." I glance down at myself, remembering what piece of clothing I was wearing. Oh. It was a black silk blouse. The nicest shirt I had.
Alec's eyes dart behind me, and narrow a tiny bit. I turn and see Sam heading for us. His short strawberry-blonde hair was spiked up in a way I thought was cute. His pale gray eyes searched my face. Slowly, he looked at Alec. His mouth became a smirk.
What was that about? Sam hardly ever smirked at us. Not only that, but he arched an eyebrow in our general area. O...kaaay. Something was going on between my two best friends.
Sam made his way over to us, keeping his eyes on me, as if claiming me. I somehow sensed I was being fought over by these two males. How wolf-ish. "Hey, Em. Alec," Sam says, eyes solely on me. I hear Alec swallow.
