It was about eight in the morning when we arrived at the hotel. I was grouchy because Vlad, though he was my best friend, there was still no excuse for what he had just done, woke me up ten minutes before we had to catch our train. We had stayed in Helsinki for three days. Our trip was only supposed to last two weeks but, we had round trip tickets that were good if we got stuck there. Vlad tripped in with our bags. I helped him since he had dropped one. Stevie and Fefe followed in after him.
“So Anna,” Fefe said, “Will you explain to me why the Hell you brought Stevie and me to this frozen wasteland?”
“It's not really a wasteland we are in a city. I promise that you are going to love it. I'm sure you and Stevie are just upset because of the language barrier.” The only reason I had brought them along was so that I could finally prove to them that Europe was very different than America. It was the first time any of us had been out of the country. We had already visited Norway and Sweden. I had saved Finland for last because I had always wanted to go to Finland. Vlad and I were really excited to be there; well if I had the proper amount of sleep that morning I would have been more excited.
“Um yeah, I'm from America these people need to speak English.” Stevie laughed.
I just shook my head and flopped down onto the bed. I took my hair down. It was still up. I didn't even take my scarf off. Nor the zip hoodie I had on underneath my coat. It was early December in Finland. My shoes were still on my feet, they were cold and soaked with melted snow. Stevie and Fefe went to their room that was across the hall. Vlad crawled on the bed and helped me pull my jacket off. He took the scarf off of my neck and began to stroke my hair. He kissed my cheek. Vlad and I had a past. We had tried to date in the past and we had failed miserably at it.
"Anna will you stop giving me the evil eye?" Vlad said as he laid back on the bed.
"Do you expect me to be content right now?" I yawned I was too tired to deal with this. I had to remind myself not to let Vlad make the trip arrangements. “Vlad, can you just let me sleep?” I said with a twinge of anger to it. It normally was not a good idea to leave Vlad and I in a room together alone.
“Are you still mad at me for waking you up?” he asked as he continued playing with my hair.
“You think? I'm not mad at you for waking me up, I'm mad at you for the way that you woke me up.”
“Okay so I'll remember next time not to pull your toes.” he said, “I'll make it up to you tonight.”
“How?” I asked rolling over. I was interested now.
“We'll go to Jack the Rooster it isn't far form here. We can go get drunk, dance, come back here and do it.” he suggested.
“I thought we agreed that we weren't having sex anymore.” I said with a sigh.
“Well I was thinking if we do get a little too drunk it would be okay for us to come back together.” he smiled and it made me sick to my stomach.
“Vlad the fact that you said the word drunk just means that you wouldn't be okay with it if you were sober. I'm not okay with it.”
