epilogue

"do you want me to stay in the car, honey?" luke's wife, lilian, asks.

"no, not this time. i want you to meet her today." a smile spreads onto luke's face, lilian mimics his smile.

"really? a-are you sure? you've always done this by your-"

"i'm sure, babe." luke stretches his hand out for lilian to grab, "c'mon."

lilian hops out of the car, holding luke's warm hand in hers. her smile grows, knowing luke wants her to meet amy.

it's been nine years since amy's death. luke visits her grave every year. he met lilian three years ago. lilian doesn't mind that luke visits amy's grave every year; even if he still loves amy.

luke and lilian take the trips to the cemetery every year together. this has been the first year that lilian will visit amy's grave.

"hey, amy. i hope you don't mind that i brought my wife, lilian, with me." luke giggles. he crouches down next to her grave, brushing his finger up and down the tombstone, "i miss you loads, amy. i have finally moved on though. lilian makes me so, so happy."

luke squeezes lilian's hand, making a small smile form on lilian's face. luke stands up from the ground. lilian gives him a small hug before clearing her throat.

"uh, hi amy. from what i've heard about you, you sound like an amazing girl. i wish i could've met you -you know- here..on earth." lilian says, "i will take care of luke, by the way. i will never, ever hurt him. that's a promise. i hope i get the approval from you, amy. i love him a lot."

luke wipes a tear from rolling down his cheek. lilian tugs him into a tight hug, a few tears rolling down her cheek as well.

"i love you so much." luke mumbles into lilian's shoulder.

"i love you so much more." lilian tightens her grip on luke's sweater.

before they leave, luke says his good bye's and leaves the flowers on her grave. he removes the old, dead ones, throwing them in the trash on the way to the car.

they both hop into the car, neither of them saying a word.

luke inserts the key into the ignition, starting the car.

"lil?" luke says, breaking the silence.

"yes, luke?" lilian shuffles in her seat, facing luke.

"thank you," he turns his face to hers, "for saving me."
