~  Everyone experiences fear, no matter how tough a person is, a seed of fear can always manage to fester and bloom eventually.

The griffin stood just outside of the portal. Small wisps of smoke poured from the entrance of it, almost as if it where beckoning them closer. Quiet incoherent whispers ever so often escaped the cold confines of wherever the portal lead.

It was obvious the portal was old. Ancient even, the rocks that where placed ever so carefully near the base of the structure, now lay cracked and beaten. Old rusted chains that hanged from the ceiling practically crumbling away at the touch, not to mention the moss that hid the portal away from prying eyes, was now bleached and dying. The portal however against all odds, still remained lit.

Small wisp-like creatures lay in the shadows, their bodies a ink black and their heads adorned with 2 matching pairs of soulless glowing white eyes, which seemed to stare into your very soul. They whispered amongst themselves in some long forgotten language, while also side eyeing the griffin almost as if taunting them.

The griffin payed no heed to them however, as the void dwellers warning to not initiate contact with them nor' acknowledge them, echoed through their mind once more.  The creature clutched the lantern it was holding tighter, acidently aggravating the small flame that was inside.

The creature took a deep breath before ambling closer to the gaping void of the portal, and carefully placing a paw in it, instantly coldness enveloped the griffin. They sighed and closed their eyes as they continued walking on in.

After a short minute (which felt like hours), a soft grainy texture met the griffins paws. They openeded their eyes and where met with a endless desert-like landscape. A pitch black sky illuminated by three moons being the only thing keeping the world from endless darkness.

A thin trail lay ahead covered in the decades worth of paw steps and footsteps of past travelers being guided by the void dweller and other past void guides. However the void dweller was nowhere to be seen currently. The dessert like expanse was also quiet. A little too quiet.

An immediate red flag was raised in the griffins head as they looked around only catching sight of the wisp creatures that lived there and ancient broken down pillars, as well as the dragon which the void dweller had called 'infinity' the far distance. As much as the griffin wanted to run to the goddess of the abyss they didn't, they had more important matters on their mind.

All of a sudden white feathers dotted with grey rained down from the heavens, causing the griffin to look upwards.

A white and grey splotched raven which was a gift the griffin had brought the void dweller, whom had dubbed it as 'Trouble' and 'Inconvenience' landed in a flurry of feathers, the birds own feathers where ruffled and the bird was squawking the word "Trouble" over and over as the bird, hopped around in an stressed and aggravated manner.

The griffin walked over and tossed some bread crumbs to the raven "Woah there buddy what happened?"

The raven side eyed the griffin before cawing out another "Trouble!" and flying away in a flurry of feathers

Finally the griffin caught sight of a red lace attached to a golden colored key with unrecognizable carvings right where the raven was standing. Golden colored blood was splattered over the sands and some matted white fur was thrown on the ground. Signs of struggle where shown imprinted on the sands.

"Void dweller..?" The griffin called out, a sense of fear and urgency washing over them. The griffin walked over to the key, accidentally disturbing a wisp that was resting there in the process, however that was one of the griffins least concerns. "My gods, what happend here" the griffin murmured, placing their lantern down and picking the key up.

The griffin knew that some people where after the powers the void held, however she had never been followed, they always made sure to check, so it couldn't be that. The wisp creatures wouldent attack you unless you provoke or acknowledge their presence, which the void dweller  wouldent be stupid enough to do either.

'Had they faked whatever this was? No it couldn't be, void guides have sworn loyalty to guiding others through here' the griffin thought getting up and grabbing their lantern, their fur rising in fear. The void dweller was strong no doubt so a group at the least had to have done this.

That was all the griffin needed to confirm it's suspicions. They turned and hurried back to the portal, their mind dead set on getting to the bottom of this.
