Corruption
"Where are you??!" I heard my little brother yell from the attic. I giggled to myself, we had been playing a game of hide n seek, and he was pretty bad at it.
I heard his footsteps go back and forth down the hall, "C'mon I've checked everywhere!!" He exclaimed. He looked above him, then smirked. He slowly pulled down the opening to the attic and climbed up the small ladder, he looked around before fully stepping foot into the attic. He peered around a couple of boxes before going towards the big treasure chest type box I had hid behind.
He struggled for a moment as he pulled the chest out a little, "aha! Found you!!", he said with a proud look on his face.
"Aw c'mon, that was my best hiding spot yet.", I complained as I stood up, "Well it's your turn to hide now". He ran off to go hide as I counted, "one, two, three"I counted three different monster-like creatures, "crap, that can't be good", I say as I hid deeper into the shadows of the broken down building, there wasn't really any scientific name for these things considering all the scientists died before being able to figure out some scientific name. I've always just called them monsters, basic I know but hey I'm not very creative. It's been a year since I last saw my family, ever since this virus spread. I was now lost in a city of dangers and broken down ruins. This would have all seemed like a cool scene from one of those sci-fi books I used to read, except it's a lot less cool when you're actually living the story.
I peer back out from behind the building, the creatures no longer in sight. I let out a sigh of relief and step out from the shadows and begin walking cautiously down the broken down road. I looked up at the sky, and it looks like it's about to storm.
I thought to myself, "Just my luck, I better find a place to stay." I mumble to myself.
I begin looking for a safe building to stay at while I can, I spot a small little apartment complex and begin making my way there. I walked in carefully and walked up the broken down stairs. Once I made it to the second floor I looked for a somewhat comfortable place, when I found one I slowly walked in and looked around, " seems safe enough" I stated. I set my bookbag down and sit next to it as I begin to doze off slowly to the sound of the light drizzle from the rain.Bam! I quickly jolted awake, was it thundering? I think to myself, but the rain has stopped and there doesn't seem to be a storm of any sort occurring anymore. I grab my gun quickly and get up and look around. Then I see a shadow and quickly point my attention that way, when a gun then points back at me.
"Who are you??!" The strange voice questioned, his tone stern and demanding. I look into the barrel of the gun, my gaze then shifting towards the man's face.
I look him in the eyes before asking, "I should be the one asking you that question." I then stated harshly.
He snickered, "why is that? After all, you are the one in MY building." He snarked back, "Your building? I'd say there's not much left of a building to own." I said sarcastically, looking around at the broken down, ivy covered apartment complex.
His facial expression went from snarky to annoyed, "look doesn't matter, regardless you need to leave" He said lowering the rifle he had and looking me in my eyes intently.
As I was about to agree to leave, another deep male voice spoke from the darkness, "all c'mon now Asher making the pretty little lady leave so soon?" he commented as he began to walk closer to us, his tall large figure emerging from the darkness. The details from the man's face became more recognizable, he had jet black hair, with a gray strip, which I assumed was from old age, gelled back. He also had a rather large scar across the right side of his face, and he had a muscular, large body type, well i couldn't really tell if it was muscle or fat but regardless he had a large figure."C'mon Adam I thought you didn't like uninvited guests?" Asher reminded him with an annoyed expression on his face, having not liked me much as it was. Asher crossed his arm glancing at me with an angry expression, I glared right back at him.
Adam then spoke again, breaking the tension, "now, now asher im sure we can make an exception, i mean we are short on about like two people." Adam pointed out, he then looked at me, "Tell me, how are you with weapons?"
