➢ 𝐇𝐎𝐓 𝐒𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒

"Ah! I missed this soooo much." I sighed in relief as I sunk into the steaming, clear water even deeper. Japan wasn't the only place with hot springs, but I always found the ones here to be the perfect, all natural temperature.

It was the middle of the night so as of the moment I was lucky enough to get the whole spot to myself. Within a few hours no doubt women from the night pubs and such will come pooling in, but that was fine, I planned to be long gone by then.

I hummed a tune to myself while looking up to see which constellations decided to follow me tonight, and much to my joy I found Orion and his unmistakable star belt. The stars in the sky were thankfully something that had been constant throughout my life, which I found comfort in.

I soaked for a while longer until my fingers started to prune, taking that as a sign to get out, however before I had gotten the chance to I noticed a strand of bubbles surfacing in a snake like way, heading straight towards me.

Sometimes, the violent sirens of the sea acted the same way so I decided to go with my gut instinct and get out of the pool. Much to my dismay whatever it was took notice of my attempt to flee and caught my ankle beforehand.

"This is bullshit!" I groaned before being dragged under the water. I had no weapon with me and no protective coverings so I'd have to rely solely on my own smarts and strength.

Once pulled under the depth of the pool seemingly became bottomless, leaving me in a search for my opponent. I would say it was quite a perverted situation if I wasn't more focused on what was happening around me. Thankfully due to years of practice for missions and such, holding my breath wasn't much of an issue, however I decided that it would be in my best interest to act like I was drowning now instead of waiting till I actually was.

So after flailing my arms and legs for about a minute or less, I went limp and blew some bubbles from my mouth, and just like that the monster had returned to me, roughly grabbing my forearm and lifting it to his row of teeth. His complexion was gray and the sclera of his eyes were black along with his hair. A few other features indicated to me that maybe this was one of the demons that Giyuu had told me he was here for during our long chat.

While me and Tomioka were speaking earlier, he notified me of needing someone to act as bait for a certain demon that had been terrorizing the women of this area. I was told that just within this last week seven girls had gone missing. So, since he gave me so much information regarding the topic, I offered to help in which he hesitantly accepted.

When I was sure that the demon was going to take a bite out of me, his eyes shifted over to my chest where his other hand started to reachout to.

' Nope nope nope nope, sorry Tomioka but sexual assult is not on my list of things to have done.'

Quickly I shot out my hand to the demon's neck and squeezed, quickly ripping my arm from the demon's grasp to grab it's face, gouging out one of his eyes with my thumb.

The demon was now screeching, attempting to get out of my hold while I struggled to keep the upperhand, hoping that Giyuu would show up soon. As the demon flailed, his sharp nails caught me on the side of my rib cage and I lost my breath due to the sudden unexpected burst of pain. Gritting my teeth, I let go of the demon and swam up, kicking him on the side of his head to help myself up.

Now with the demon genuinely mad and out for revenge, he recovered from the blow quickly and once again caught my ankle before I surfaced. The once clear water was turning dark due to my blood and at this the demon sort of became frenzied, tearing the skin of my leg open with his claws, but before he could even get a bite the water exploded with life and I was released. Giyuu had finally decided to show up, a bit late might I add.
