I walked from the house and to the subway, when I got on there was this really attractive guy so I decided to sit next to him I mean what will it hurt. When I walked over and sat down, he looked up and smiled at me, I smiled back and sat down before pulling the stroller up in front of me. I guess he didn't notice it before, because when he did see it, he was a bit shocked, but he shook it off and turned to me,

"Hello, I'm Lucas," he introduced himself.

"Hi, Lucas, I'm Kyrah. It's nice to meet you," I replied, and he gave me a curious glance before inquiring.

"So, how old are you?"

I hesitated for a moment before answering, "I'm 16. What about you?" My curiosity was piqued.

"I'm 17," he shared.

Seventeen, I mused, wondering if he might be attending the same school as me. "Which school do you go to?" I ventured.

"Abigail Adams. I'm the new guy, just moved here from Texas," he explained.

"That's cool, I'm a student there too!" I exclaimed.

"Sorry if this is a bit forward, but are they yours?" He gestured towards the girls who were peacefully sucking on their pacifiers in the stroller.

"No worries, and yes, they are mine. The one on the left is Kailani, and the one on the right is Mailani," I clarified, pointing to each of my girls as I introduced them.

As I interacted with my twin daughters, their cherubic smiles mirrored my own. Their tiny fingers reached for mine, and I couldn't help but tickle their soft bellies. The subway car hummed with the rhythmic clatter of wheels against tracks, cocooning us in a shared moment of warmth.

But then, the atmosphere shifted. His intent expression wavered as two familiar figures boarded the train. Riley and Maya—the duo who had once made my life a living maze of ridicule. Their laughter still echoed in my memory from last year when my teenage pregnancy became their favorite gossip.

Maya's voice cut through the air, her tone dripping with disdain. "Woah, Riley, you don't do lip gloss."

Riley, however, had a different agenda. "Oh, what I forgot to mention is that I'm completely reinventing myself," she declared, her eyes flickering toward Lucas. "I ride the subway now, I have kiwi lips, and I'm just as cool as you now!"

Maya's gaze shifted, locking onto me and Lucas. Her glare intensified, and then she smirked at him. She turned back to Riley, her words laced with challenge. "Yeah, let's see how cool you can be when you look at him." She pointed directly at Lucas, who met Riley's gaze with a friendly smile.

Riley's attention shifted from Lucas to me. Her glare was unmistakable—a silent accusation. I held her gaze, refusing to flinch. Maya, ever the provocateur, stepped closer to us. Her eyes bore into Lucas, and she began her calculated assault.
