Chapter 6: Weekend plans

On Saturday, I went out with Jacob and my parents to do some shopping. While my parents were getting some groceries at the supermarket, Jacob and I decided to get some Dairy Queen. As I was looking at the menu, I heard Jacob talking to some guys, probably some guys on the football team from school.  

"Hey Y/n, I'm surprised you would be here." 

I knew that voice. I looked away from the menu and there standing beside me was Hunter. He was wearing a black Nike hoodie which made him look even cuter, if that even was possible. 

"Oh, hi Hunter, yeah I'm just waiting for my parents and decided to try Dairy Queen." 

He made me so nervous. I fiddled with my phone and looked back at the menu. I couldn't concentrate on reading the menu, I could feel my hands sweating. I put my phone in my pocket and wiped my hands on my jeans.

"You okay?" Hunter looked at me.

"Uh yeah, I just don't know what to order and I've been staring at this menu for ages."

"I would recommend the Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzard, it's my favourite but I'm sure any option you pick will still taste good." 

"Yeah, I'll try that. Are you going to get that too?" my throat was so dry. 

"Yep! Here I'll pay for the both of us." He pulled out his phone.

"No, no, it's fine, I can pay." I started walking to the counter. "Two medium Oreo blizzards please, I'll pay by card."

Hunter walked to the counter and stopped beside me, "I'll be paying, how much will that be?"

"That'll just be-" the worker started.

Hunter then grabbed the credit card reader and proceeded to pay. 

We walked away from the counter and we saw the worker give us a weird look before walking away to make our ice creams.

"Seriously, you didn't have to, thank you though." 

"It's your first time, you should enjoy it." he smiled. 

"Hunter, Y/n. What did you two order?" I heard my brother Jacob walk up to us. "That show on the counter was...interesting. You wanna pay for mine too?"

"You saw that???" I could feel my face heat up.

"Yeah the whole store probably saw that, luckily it's just us. Anyways, any recommendations??"

I looked around the store. It was in fact empty, besides, Hunter, Jacob, Hunter's friends and me. 

"Anything from the menu is pretty good." Hunter replied.

"Well okay then, I'll go ask your friends Hunter, I'm sure they'll have some recommendations." Jacob walked to the counter where Hunter's friends were. 

"I hope I didn't make him mad, he just didn't seem the type to like Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzards."

"No he's just like that, it gets annoying honestly." 

"Two medium Oreo Mocha Fudge Blizzards." the worker called out. 

We walked to the counter to grab our blizzards. 

"Of course you recommend her that blizzard, there's better blizzards you could order, you know that right." one of Hunter's friends commented.

"Says the one that orders frozen hot chocolate almost every time we go here." Hunter laughed.

"Well not this time, I got a chocolate dipped cone today."

"That's even more basic."

Hunter and I walked away from the group. 

"Sorry about that, they just get like that, when I'm aroun-" 

"You didn't tell me a large would be this large! I mean I get that serving sizes were big here, but this big???" Jacob yelled out. 

I looked at my Blizzard. It was in fact, kind of big. 

"I guess I won't be eating lunch today. Hopefully I don't get sick from eating all this."

"Yeah, I was wondering why you ordered a medium, especially for your first time. I mean I'm not complaining, it is a good blizzard." Hunter started eating.

I took a spoonful of the ice cream. It was pretty good. Hunter did have good taste in ice creams.

"You know I'm wondering why you would be at Dairy Queen, when it's this cold outside." Hunter questioned.

"I could ask you the same thing, but I was really craving a bit of ice cream. Not this much though, but at least I could walk around without it melting." 

"We were all just going to get fries, but I guess we got a bit sidetracked."

I looked at Hunter's friends, they were all holding some kind of ice cream or cold drink.

"Have you had the chance to visit the town?" 

"Not really, we've mostly been shopping for groceries and household supplies. I'll probably go shopping next week?" I took a big spoonful of the Blizzard and I could feel my brain freeze.

"You okay? That happens to me all the time, just eat it slowly." Hunter laughed.

"Yeah, it's too cold for this much ice cream. Do you have any plans for tomorrow?" 

"Nope. I was just going to lay in bed all day, it's too cold to go anywhere. Today we just decided to hang out at the shopping centre cause it's pretty warm in here."

"Yeah, it's pretty nice in here." I started mixing my ice cream with my spoon.

"Oh, also, do you have snap or insta by any chance? Sorry my sister was just wondering cause she couldn't find you anywhere?" 

"Your sister asked? Yeah, I've got both."

"Here, add me on my phone and I'll let Nat know." he handed me his phone. "I'll hold the blizzard for you."

I quickly typed in my Instagram and snap. Was it really his sister that was asking for it or was it him? I'm probably over thinking this. I gave his phone back and took my Blizzard back.

"Hunter, do you wanna stay there with Y/n or do you want to come with us? We'll just be in the Nike store." one of Hunter's friends walked up to us.

"Yeah, I'm coming, see you Monday Y/n, enjoy your weekend. Don't forget to add me back!" and with that he walked away with his friends and I was left alone with Jacob again.
