He pulls away leaving me breathless. I am completely in shock.
"Wow," he says
My breath catches and then my phone rings in my jean pocket. I reach back and with a shaking hand I turn over the screen. An unknown number.
"You should decline," says Ace. "You don't know who it is."
I ignore him and pick up.
"Hello?" I say through the phone.
"Hello, Avery I have been waiting for a long time to get in touch with you," a scratchy male voice says.
"What do you want?"
"I want you to come to meet me at the sanctuary at the back of the institute," it says. "You have three minutes." and hangs up.
I freeze.
"Are you okay?" asks Ace. "You're face is white as a bedsheet"
As if he didn't even ask me anything I turn and start running down the hall. He follows me. My breath quickens so does my heartbeat. Just as I near the entrance door I feel strong arms encircle me.
It's Ace and he's breathless.
"Where in the million skies do you think you are going?" he says through breaths.
A scratchy feeling of realization comes to me.
"I was being fucking stupid Ace," I say trying to hold my tears which have been starting to pool in my eyes.
He turns me around to face him.
"You're only being absentminded," he says and pulls me closer. "You are not being careful Avery. You could get yourself killed. I don't want you to get killed."
I sigh.
"We are only strangers Ace. I mean you did kiss me to start with but that doesn't mean that we are together," I say in a serious tone.
He chuckles.
"Think so?" he says with a laugh and with that he leans down and kisses me.
I reach for his hair while kissing him back and running my fingers through his hair. He deepens the kiss and pulls me closer to him, rubbing my back slowly. I get lost in the moment as his lips move against mine. He reaches under my shirt tracing my skin and plants sloppy kisses down my throat. I moan with pleasure. Ace pulls away leaving me intoxicated by him.
