Spa of Reyes
Lydia's POV"Great choice of venue to celebrate my hard work," I said as Kira and I walked to the second floor.
"Definitely," Kira agreed. "This is a great place to start a workless weekend."
"A workless weekend?"
"Scott," Kira replied and that was all she had to say for me to understand.
"What's the plan this time?" I inquired. "A family weekend outside the city?"
"I have no idea. I figured we would all go somewhere after the spa like always but when I asked Scott said 'anywhere but home until Sunday'."
"I like what you two have going on. Aiden once tried copying Scott but almost cost me a high profile case. I regrettably went off on him and he never did it again."
"There are times when Scott does it at the right time but you'd be surprised by how we still argue about it even after all these years, especially when I feel my team is on to something and he suddenly pulls the plug and tells me to take time off and relax. We almost got into an argument when he told me earlier but..."
"But you ended up having sex in the car," I completed and Kira chuckled.
"No but we were almost there when we arrived at your house," She responded. "Scott used logic to end the argument before it could really form. Since you regret shutting down Aiden, what do you say we reverse the roles? I want to give Scott a taste of his own medicine."
"You do remember that Scott is a doctor, don't you? He has people's lives in his hands, literally. And those people travel long distances just to see him."
"You remember that Scott personally trained Greenberg and Greenberg handles everything at McCall-Hale Private Hospital when Scott isn't around for whatever reason, including Scott's scheduled surgeries, don't you?" Kira replied. "Greenberg owes me a few favours and I'm going to cash in one of them."
"I'm afraid Aiden might react like I did but I'll think about it," I said as we reached the second floor.
It didn't take us long to reached the room connected to the balcony and I was greeted by a thunderous...
"Congratulations, Lydia!" From the Pack.
Considering there were three shifted Alpha werewolves, one thunder kitsune with her aura visible along with her four tails (minus one only Kira and Scott knew about and it wasn't in aura form or on Kira's person), one werewolf-kanima chimera and three humans, one a druid and our emissary (Mason who was Marin's trainee and successor), the cheer was literally thunderous.
They were lucky I didn't scream or they would be on the floor, some knocked out and others begging me to stop, but all was well that ended well as we have learned, so I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.
I should have known that the others would be here since Kira and Scott came via limousine but we all used it frequently as individuals and groups to not have it stuck at Scott House wasting away and everyone had their own thing to do so it has been close to a month since we all met although it seemed Corey and Malia couldn't make it.
"You guys!" I exclaimed, walking into Aiden's waiting arms for a hug and a kiss before hugging everyone while Spa of Reyes employees arrived with glasses of champagne and have everyone a glass before they left, I noticed, however, that there were two extra glasses.
"Don't worry about them," Harley told me. "Just enjoy the moment."
"A toast for one-half of our legal heroines for taking the biggest cheque in the last five years!" Scott bellowed with his wine glass raised and everyone followed suit. "To Lydia Martin-Steiner!"
"To Lydia Martin-Steiner!" Everyone echoed and took sips of their champagne I savoured the goosebumps their salutations caused.
"Also known as my wife!" Aiden added comically and we all laughed at that.
"Thanks, guys!" I voiced my gratitude that I knew they smelled in my chemo-signals. "I know we've all been busy this month, so I appreciate this. I appreciate you. And I especially appreciate you, my husband, for organising this on such short notice."
"It wasn't short notice, Lydia," Aiden replied. "I knew you were going to win the case a week ago."
"What?"
"I might not know much about what you do but I know you're one banshee of a lawyer and I listen when you speak and our friends believe in you," He responded. "As Scott said, you are our legal hero."
"I think we should all be thankful that Lydia is the lawyer between her and Aiden or else some of us might have had criminal records and served time," Tracy commented and I laughed because I knew why she said that.
"Really, Tracy? Really?"
"You just proved it by failing to recount what Scott said less than ten minutes ago. The courtroom is a battlefield, Aiden. One mistake and the war might be lost."
"OK. OK. I get it. What you do isn't simple." Aiden responded and then turned to me. "That is why we're all leaving town for the weekend to properly celebrate and destress."
OK, I didn't expect that, and it seemed Kira didn't either.
"Malia will meet us at our destination," He added.
"And Corey?" I asked.
"Do you think she can handle the... You know what?" Aiden asked the others.
"So soon after we surprised her and you told her about the weekend?" Ethan replied with a shake of his head. "I think Lydia has had enough surprises for the evening."
"Yeah, I agree with Ethan," Mason concurred.
"Come on, guys," Harley responded. "She's Lydia. She can handle it."
"Hey, I'm right here, you know," I inserted myself in their debate. "Just tell me."
"Can she?" Tracy continued like I said nothing.
"Probably," Scott answered with a nod as though to convince himself.
"Just tell her before she loses her cool," Danny said.
"I strongly advise you to not keep Lydia waiting," Kira advised. "I can feel her aura changing."
"You should listen to Kira," I added.
"OK." Aiden gave in. "But..."
"Aiden..."
"But give me your champagne glass first."
OK, that wasn't hard so I gave it to him although with a warning and anticipation.
"Alright, Corey. Give my beautiful wife what money can't buy."
There were a lot of things money couldn't buy, a lot, so the possibilities were endless.
But being that Corey could go anywhere he wanted and travel to other dimensions and realms, including Asgard, at will and storm and lightning, the possibilities were infinite.
I just didn't expect Corey to appear with a woman, to my confusion, until I noticed the resembles to an old best friend I met on the first day of the second semester of my high school sophomore year.
I realised the woman before me was a mature version of Allison Argent. She was Allison.
