Christine's POV:
"So you're still in love with me even after knowing why I rejected you?", I leaned back into my chair.
"To be fair I was ugly as fuck.. and it's not like I don't like you for your appearance myself.."
"So you're just infatuated with me?"
"No- that's not what I meant. I've been in love with you since high school-"
"But you don't even know me.."
Archie shut her mouth in defeat but her eyes continued to devour mine.
She spoke again, almost in a mocking tone, "you're so interested in knowing how obsessed I am with you.. what are you, a narc?"
"Bet you find that sexy too.."
She raised an eyebrow.
The tension was so thick we burst into laughter to cope.. and damn, her laugh was charming too now.
Archie, my high school classmate, had a massive crush on me throughout the years. If it wasn't for her glow-up, I wouldn't have given it a shot.
"I'm straight as a ruler, but rulers can bend", our glasses clinked together and marked our first date.
"Let's also talk about how you texted me back after five whole years when I had almost moved on", she leaned forward with a smug smile.
I blushed as I recalled the high school reunion night. I sat there in a corner all by myself, scanning the crowd for someone I could hang out with.
White shirt, grey waistcoat, side swept pixie haircut.. the tight shirt complimenting her strong arms- and her eyes met mine.
"You thought I was a guy?"
"Look-"
"Naw, you did, didn't you? Ahah! Got'em!"
"Deception at first sight.."
