Devon's Pov:
Two words to start off with: Horrible life. I can explain more than that but I would begin to start with those two words that have described my life as I grew up.
My name is Devon Alexander. I hated my life all these years as I grew up and I'm going to tell you why. I'm an only child and I have no siblings when my parents were together. When I was 7 years old my heart had pain when I heard my dad say those words to me:
We're getting a divorce.
I wasn't expecting to hear those words and I hated that this happened to me. My dad offered to take me instead of my mom so I could live with him.
My mom took the whole house to herself and my dad and I lived in an apartment.
A few months later, I wasn't expecting this to happen but my dad got remarried again. He married a woman named Rachel Jones and she has a son and a daughter who are older than me.
I was left out of the family and I didn't like it. Rachel payed no attention to me and her son and daughter whose names are Evan and Emily well they treated me like really badly. I can't find the word to describe it.
I spent all my time with my dad until that awful day came. My dad got into a car accident and he died. He got into a terrible car accident.
A truck hit his car when he wasn't looking and it smashed everything. His car even flipped over.
When I heard what had happened, I was devastated and scared because I had no family member with me. I knew that I had to live with my horrible step family whom I didn't like at all.
A few days later, Rachel took everything. She took the house and all the money my dad had and even in her dismay, she had control over me.
My mom was the only person who was left as a real family member in my life. I had no idea where she was and where she could be but I haven't seen her since I was 7 and I wanted to know where she was.
By the time I turned 11 years old, I was happy about it but Rachel, Evan, and Emily were not they only pretended to be.
I was never around the house much so I loved being outside all the time. I am a big fan of the water. I loved walking on the beach which happened to be empty because no one would visit it ever, but I do because I love it.
As I walked on the beach, I dived in. I knew my clothes were still on and I didn't care if they got wet. I got up to the surface so I could breathe and the water felt cold but I didn't mind at all.
Suddenly, I felt something changing. My legs were put together like glue. I tried moving them but they moved together. I looked down and I couldn't believe what happened to me.
I am a merman and it shocked me.
I didn't know how this happened but I swore to myself that I wouldn't tell Rachel, Evan, or Emily. If i did then there will be trouble.
I lived in a large house with the 3 evil step family members that I happen to be stuck with. I lived in the house all my life and if you were me, you would instantly hate Rachel. She is a brat and she has total control over me so I do what she says.
I slept real late last night and I was super tired. I was on my computer all last night.
I lay in my bed and I had my blankets up to my waist. I moved and I began to wake up.
As I opened my eyes, I saw Emily staring at me. I jumped at the sight of her.
How long was she staring at me sleeping? and how long has she been waiting there.
"What do you want?"
"Time to get up. It's late."
I got up from bed and I looked at my clock. It said 10:03 am. That didn't seem late to me.
"Who told you to come in here?"
"Mom did. She's taking us somewhere. So you have to get dressed."
Emily walked out of my room and I could tell that she was already dressed.
She doesn't need to say mom because I know that Rachel isn't my mom and she was barely a step mom to me.
I didn't feel like going anywhere with her. I just felt like staying home all day and going on the chatting website that I seem to be really popular in. I loved that website and I would always get thousands and thousands of messages from people and it would be sort of hard to reply to all of them.
I made my bed quickly and I brushed my teeth and I got dressed.
After I did all that, I went online to the website I really love and I checked the new members list to see if I could message and follow someone who seems to be interesting.
I scrolled down the whole list and I spotted someone who seemed to be interesting to follow and message.
Her name was Lyndsey Anderson and she was a blonde. There wasn't much about her so I sent her a message and I would be expecting a reply from her.
Evan walked into my room and I turned to him.
"What do you want?"
"Mom and Emily are waiting downstairs in the car for you."
I shut down my computer and I turned off the screen.
"Alright."
Evan walked out of the room and I followed him from behind.
Great. This is what I needed right now. I thought to myself and I didn't say it.
I didn't want to go out anywhere with Rachel and the rest. I didn't have the need of saying their names and I got tired when I would always say them.
As soon as we got into the car, Rachel drove away.
To be honest, I had no idea where we were going.
I was stuck in the backseat along with Emily and Evan was in the passenger's seat up front.
I didn't turn to them. I looked out the window and I stared at the cars drive by and the objects we passed by.
I wanted to message my followers online and I even wanted to message that blonde girl Lyndsey if she sent me a reply. I loved going on at home because I have privacy in my room.
As I continued staring outside my window, I thought about my mom and how I haven't seen her since I was 7 years old.
I was thinking that she probably doesn't know about my secret that I'm planning to tell no one. I guess I would tell them if I trust them, but then again I wouldn't.
Rachel looked at me from her mirror. She thought that I was feeling bored. Of course I was.
"What's wrong Devon?"
I turned to her but I didn't answer her question. I wasn't in the mood to talk to her or Evan or Emily.
"Well?" She asked.
"Nothing. I'm just thinking."
I had to give her an answer even though I didn't want to.
She stared at me for a few seconds longer and then her eyes were back on the road.
To be honest, I could chat with my followers online and see if some of them were online. I took my phone out of my pocket and I went to the internet and to the website.
As I got on, I noticed that I was receiving a few more messages. I saw that Lyndsey was still online but she hasn't replied back to me yet.
I was hoping she would because I would want her to message me back. I thought that maybe she doesn't want to chat with me because she was new and she wouldn't have people messaging her instantly just like my followers were doing to me.
I waited until she sent me a message back so in the mean time I was replying to all my followers.
