J: Raghav!!! Raghav! Jaldi utho! Abhi tak so raha hai? Hame mandap pohonchna hai!
Raghav wakes up and sees the time was 2:45 AM
R: Amma? Ye koi time hota hai uthne ka? Abhi toh soya hu main!
J: arey! Uth! Hame nikalna hai 15 minute me
R: what? Itni jaldi kyu?
J: 4 baje tak shuru karna hai apni puja waha pe, tu jaldi uthke ready hoja! Uth!!!!
R: arey yeh shaadi ho rahi hai ya koi military training??
J: uth jaldi, nahi toh tere bina chale jayenge... teri marzi aage!
Raghav forcefully wakes up and walks into the shower. He was decked as the groom again with the kalyantilakam and the dot on his cheek and they all started off to the venue, by the time they reached it was 3:45 AM.
When the groom and his party arrive at the venue in the cars, they are grandly welcomed by the bride's party amidst traditional music of 'Nadaswaram' / 'Sannai Melam'. The groom and his parents are especially welcomed by the bride's parents when the bride's mother applies 'kumkum' on the groom's and his mother's forehead followed by Aarti (waving the plate with burning camphor) to the groom which is restricted to certain sub-communities of some castes.
After Madhvi and Rajesh received them, they were taken to a outhouse where Raghav had some rituals to finish before heading to the mandap, out of which first one is the
Snathakam: Snathakam is a ceremony which is performed in the pellikoduku's (groom) place by his family. This ritual is done to signify the transition of the groom from the Brahmacharya stage (bachelorhood) to Grihastha (family man.) In this ritual, the pellikoduku wears a white holy thread which ensures that he has ended his Brahmacharya vrata. (if you remember the white thread of Raghav across his torso diagonally during shiv abhishek episode)
Most of them will have 3 rounds of thread before the wedding. This indicates their Brahmacharya stage. During this ritual, they add 3 more rounds and a total of 6 rounds of the thread will be tied. This indicates the beginning of the Grihastha stage.
This is a fun part where one can tease Raghav not to get married and become a sanyasi instead as here, the groom will actually take a kalash, an umbrella and wear wooden sandals like the Saadhus and will go on a mock kashi yatra. The pandit accompanies Raghav till the front yard and actually tell him
"Vats, aapka brahmachari rehne ke din khatam ho rahe hai, ye ek aisi rasm hai jaha aapko ek aur mauka milta hai ye sochne ko ki aapko shaadi karni hai ya sanyaasi banna hai? Ab aapki marzi, aap hame batayiye aapko shaadi karna hai ya sanyaasi banna hai?" the pandit asks Raghav partly pulling his leg, and all Raghav's uncles started to shout
"Beta, kaashi chale jaao 25 saal se jhel rahe hai, abhi der nahi hui hai!" Raghav was so red with embarrassment that he's put in this situation. No one told him about this ritual also, only he knows how much he loves pallavi and how much he wants to marry her! But he can't say that, because the whole team will gang up and tease him.
