༉‧₊˚.'no homo' was a phrase that both kuroo and bokuto used way too often to justify their suspicious affection gestures.
saying, "i love you" to friends was completely normal.
though kuroo and bokuto were always pushing those 'friends' boundaries. it started as humorous jokes, but at some point, it started feeling like something more.
the two volleyball players would be hanging out with one another after a match.
kuroo would reach over and hold his hand, uttering a quick, "no homo".
or either of the two would flirt with one another before saying, "no homo".
really — just stupid things that didn't need too much looking into, not at first anyway. though, kuroo's head was soon occupied with questions on all this 'no homo' stuff after that weekend.
♡
kuroo was over at bokutos after a rough match against his team. unfortunately, the raven boy would only be able to stay for a day before he had to go.
"hey, want anything before going to bed?"
bokuto walked over to the couch where kuroo was laying down.
"actually, i do,"
bokuto leaned over the sofa, smiling down at the raven boy. he just knew that he was going to say something stupid, and he did.
"oh yeah? what is it?"
a smirk grew on the blocker's face, "a goodnight kiss."
the silver-haired boy let out a laugh. "really?"
kuroo nodded, pointing to his lips, "yeah, a goodnight kiss," he repeated, making the ace laugh again.
"no homo?"
"no homo," he repeated.
bokuto shrugged, muttering a quick 'bet'. his friend's lips were already puckered, and his eyes were closed.
the boy sat up on the couch so his friend could reach him. it was obviously a joke, he didn't expect bokuto to actually kiss him. he expected him to lean in and pull back at the last second, like the two idiots normally would as a joke.
kuroo's eyes shot wide open when he felt the boy's soft lips on his.
the raven-haired blocker wasn't sure if he should pull away or kiss him back. he didn't do either.
for months now he'd had weird thoughts of this.
what if we kissed?
and now it was happening.
this didn't feel like one of their jokes. bokuto pressed his lips firmly against his. kuroo was hesitant at first, completely lost, but he kissed back, his hand moving to the nape of the ace's neck.
just when kuroo's fingers had comfortably made their way around his neck, bokuto pulled away, smiling at his supposed 'friend'.
kuroo was utterly confused, his lips parted slightly as he stared at the ace.
"was that a good enough goodnight kiss?"
"um - y-yeah.?" kuroo muttered, unsure of what to actually say. was bokuto being serious?
he kisses me and that's all he has to say?
he thought. there was a mixture of emotions, he wasn't sure what to actually feel. was he angry, hurt, disappointed, all of them?
"great. goodnight, bro."
with that, the silver-haired boy went to his spot on the couch opposite of kuroo which only made the whole situation worse.
safe to say, kuroo could barely get a wink of sleep.
he was a complete and utter mess since then.
