2 days later...

Dallas pulled up to the 16th spot in the race. The body of the car was ruined, the windshield still cracked, the headlight still nearly catching fire any time you turn it on, but the inside is what they had to fear. And really, that's all that matters. Street racing enthusiasts we're lined up along the sidewalks, most having bets on Edvin, explainably so. You never hear about him losing. The track was lit with neon lights, reflecting off the glossy bodies of the cars in the race.

Dallas had the eyes of the audience on him, confused looks. People started whispering to eachother and laughing at the state of the vehicle, but it didn't bother him one bit. Dallas noticed someone walking towards him with his hands in his pockets, and his eyebrows downturned: Adam. He looked furious. He walked up to Dallas's car and knocked on the window, nearly breaking the poor thing. Dallas rolled down the window and he leaned his elbow against the roof of the car. Then leaned in towards Dallas and began to speak. "Heh... Outta anyone who coulda shown up. You? What the hell do you think you're doing here."

Dallas smirked at him. "You said anyone could join, didn't you?"

"What do you expect to happen out there, Dallas? That thing looks horrible. I'd be surprised if you made it to 16th- or finished the race at all!" Adam laughed at him, then backed away a bit. "You're really just embarrassing yourself. And me too. I don't want that nasty thing on my track." He walked back towards the announcer woman, Mariana. She waved her flags at the cars, and they sped past her, blowing her hair towards her back like she was looking into the wind.

The announcer lady turned towards Adam in concern. She watched Dallas's Charger take off past her, then spoke. "How did he get here?

"He just pulled up I guess. He really likes making himself look like a dumba-"

"No... I mean how did he get here. You can't just pull up. Someone invited him."

Adam looked at her silently for a moment. Then she spoke again. "Who invited him?"

Adam stepped back a bit, then gazed off at the tail lights of the cars going by, they illuminated the buildings they passed like neon lights. You could barely see the car itself anymore from the smoke and flame. "I don't know. But I'm gonna find out." Adam thought to himself, maybe I should have taken him more seriously.

After the race...

Mariana waited to wave on the winner of the race, she stood there with a suitcase of cash in her hands. But even she was surprised by who passed the line first: Dallas Houston. He slammed on brakes, then stepped out of his car to greet his reward, the tire against the asphalt making a loud screech. Right before he could even approach the woman, Edvin Bervland pulled up behind him, turned the wheels sharply and braked. He stepped out of his car in those 3 inch tall platform heels and stomped towards Dallas. No one likes Edvin when he's angry.

Dallas stood Infront of him, unlike alot of people when they make him angry, competely unfazed. He just stood and smiled at him, which made him angrier. "...YOU." Edvin punched him across the jaw as hard as he could, knocking Dallas to the ground, and one of his canine teeth across the pavement. He stood over him, clenching his fist and locking his teeth so hard they could crack. "YOU TOOK EVERYTHING FROM ME." He screamed at Dallas like a schoolgirl. "This was supposed to be MY day of victory, everyone would chant my name, I would be given thousands of dollars, I could walk past the crowd of people as they all WISH to be me~!"

He tried to stomp Dallas into the dirt until Adam, of all people held him back. "AND YOU TOOK IT ALL AWAY FROM ME!!"

Mariana helped Dallas off the ground, and held her scarf against his nose bleed and his absent tooth. Then handed him the suitcase with the money in it and nodded towards his car. "It's best you leave. Edvin can't admit defeat." Dallas took the suitcase from her and smiled, then walked towards his car. Until he was stopped by Adam, who just got done handing a feral Edvin to their bodyguard. "So. How'd you do that?"

"It's just a piece of junk, like you said, ain't it?" Dallas stepped into his car and drove off, before he could get punched again.

Edvin calmed down.. a little. He stopped trying to fight the bodyguard. More like he just started crying. "I'LL GET HIM NEXT TIME. I-I'M GONNA-"

Adam put his arm over his back, then replied in a gloomy voice. "Edvin. There won't be a next time."

Edvin's expression almost immediately went blank. He looked over at Adam, puzzled. "W..what do you mean?" His eyes were shattered. Racing is Edvin's purpose. Without a place on the track he has no meaning. "Do you know why this race was so important, Edvin?"

Edvin looked at him confused, then Adam elaborated. "We needed that money to pay off Mafia protection. Without that money, they're after us. We have to split up, for good." Edvin grabbed Adam's arm forcefully and shouted. "YOU CAN'T GET RID OF ME THAT EASILY!"

Adam laughed, sheepishly. Then walked off towards his car. He turned back towards Edvin one more time before speeding off towards his apartment.

"Get out of here. Please."
