Attraction is a mystery. Why are we attracted to people? Is it their wit or their simple good looks? Spencer Hastings is a hard working girl; she's very smart, almost too smart. While Alison DiLaurentis was manipulative and persistent. There's only one thing wrong with that sentence. It's a simple helping verb.

Was.

Unlike Spencer, Alison won't get the chance to change the way people thought of her. Although she's been dead for nearly three years, she's everywhere. She's in the words that Spencer speaks, in the thoughts she thinks, and the opinions she voices. Alison is everywhere.

Spencer was the stubborn one in their friendship. Alison tried her hardest to make everyone fall in love with her. She shared intimate moments with Emily, Hanna, and even Aria, but Spencer took some convincing. Spencer was different to Alison. She wasn't a game to her, she was real. All of the feelings she had towards her were genuine and she felt them throughout her body, like Spencer was her medicine, relieving the ache she had in her chest.

Spencer couldn't help but feel worthless as she stared at the picture of Alison hanging on her wall. Alison was so much more to her than a fling. She ran her finger over Alison's face while a single tear slowly made its way down her pale face. She felt as though she let Ali down. Like maybe she would still be alive if she had done something or maybe had been more careful with Ali. Alison was her first true love, after all.

"Spence?" Melissa's soft voice sounded through the room, followed by a soft knock at her ajar door.

Spencer quickly began wiping tears away. With a worried expression, Melissa made her way over to her younger sister. Melissa lightly put her hand on Spencer's shoulder, examining the picture of Alison.

"What's wrong?" She asked.

"N.. Nothing." Spencer sobbed.

"It's something. Is this about.. Alison?" Melissa paused before saying her name.

Spencer didn't answer. She cried in silence, as to confirm the question.

"You were in love with her, weren't you?" Melissa's lips turned into a slight smile, as if she were remembering something from long ago. Spencer nodded her head in reply. Melissa wrapped her arms around Spencer.

"I can't be strong for much longer." Spencer cried into her sister's arms.

"You don't have to be." Melissa said, gently stroking her hair.

"Am I a good sister?" Spencer finally asked after a long few moments in silence.

"A great one." Melissa smiled.

"You really mean that?" Spencer asked with a huge grin.

"I really do. Now, come down stairs and I'll cook for you. Mom and dad will be out of town for the week. Spencer smiled at this. That would make for some bonding time between her and her sister.

"What are we having? I'm starving." Spencer said as she followed Melissa down the stairs.

"Aren't you always hungry?" Melissa cocked an eyebrow at her.

"Not always." Spencer joked.

"Yeah right," Melissa rolled her eyes. "When I lived here, you never stopped eating." She playfully elbowed her sister in the gut.

"You may want to make enough for four people, Aria's coming over." Spencer said when they finally reached the kitchen.

"Why four, there's only three of us?" Melissa asked with a confused expression.

"Trust me, I eat a lot." They both laughed at this. Melissa looked at her sister longingly, almost as if she missed being in her sister's place; young and free.
