I straightened my uniform as I stood in front of the mirror that hung on my bedroom door, taking a deep inhale. Hopefully, this job would be a lot more relaxing than at the store, despite a whole bunch of tiny children running around screaming.

"Baba!!" Sandy screamed, "If you don't hurry up we'll be late!!"

I laughed at her enthusiasim, "I'm coming, I'm coming." I excited my room and quickly fastened my laces. Hopefully I don't fuck everything up, I thought as I lead Sandy out to the car.

I quickly adjusted my shirt as we stood in front of the slide. "What's at the bottom?"

"A ball pit," Sandy said, getting ready to go down.

"How deep is it?"

She turned to me with one eyebrows raised. "Baba, get your nerves out of a twist and slide." That last bit faded with an echo as she slid down with a huge crash into the ball pitch. Okay, this will be fun, I said, taking a deep breath before launching myself down the slide. CRASH!!  "Oofta," I said as I collided with the balls. Suddenly, two hands snaked under my armpits and lifted me up.

"Hey hey hey, you're too old to be in the day-" a pause. I know that voice. "Y/N?!" Yep. I turned to look at him the best I could, that pernment smile still on his face as he looked at me. Despite having milk colored eyes, I could feel them on me, looking right back into mine.

"Hey Sun!" I exclaimed, trying to wiggle out of his grip but to no anvil.

"It's sooo nice to see you again!" He shouted with joy. "And judging by that uniform... you got the job!? That's awesome! We can fingerpaint, use glitter glue, googly eyes, and drink fizzy faz until our heads explodes! Fun, fun, fun!!" He said, twirling us around in a circle.

When he finally stopped my head was still turning. "I'd love to Sun," I said, blinking to clear my vision. "But I need to clock in, see Mr. D, and get everything ready for when the kids get here."

"Can I come? Can I come?" Sun begged. "I won't make a sound. I don't want to leave my new friend! It gets pretty lonely by myself."

"I'm sorry Sun," I replied as he loosened his gripping and lowered me to the ground. Sandy had already ran off to the playsets, swinging on the monkey bars. "But I have to go outside of the daycare to do these things. You need to be here for when the kids come. Sandy can keep you company. Sandy!! Please be careful!!"

Sandy waved my words aside so I turned back to Sun. "Make sure she's safe please?"

"Of course," he said standing at attention before giggling and doing a random flip. "I'll see you soon friend! Sandy! What would you like to do?" He started heading toward the playset Sandy was at, scooping her up in his hands and swinging her around, lifting her up and down like an airplane, etc. It was nice seeming Sandy have some sort of a father figure, even if he was a robot. He still cared for her and her safety.

She's in good hands, I thought as I exited the daycare and started heading toward Mr. D's office and the employee backroom to check in. On Mr. D's desk was a list of instructions and duties for me to furfill which wasn't too bad. Mostly stuff involving cleaning up afterward like wiping down the playsets, putting the toys away, cleaning off Sun because he always gets caked in glitter glue, etc.

Clenching the folder to my chest tightly, I headed back to the daycare to find Sun and Sandy playing tag. Sandy was It and giggling the entire time she was chasing Sun with her arm stretched out and him walking with his legs apart like a clown slowly and his arms above his head. "Ahhhh," He said/screamed, "running" away from her. She touched his back and bolted away screaming, "Tag you're it!"

I giggled at them playing together as I headed to the management desk in front of the daycare drop off, sliding the file into one of the draws after memorizing my username and password for the computer. This was to keep track of all the kids that entered and keep records on them. So far there is 99 kids banned from the daycare, ranging from the ages 5-11. Out of the amount of kids there are all together, that's like a grain of sand. Most kids have only certain days they come, some are here all week. Like Sandy.

I rested my head against the desk after banging it a couple times. Despite the fact Sandy said I was always working, this job was no excuse. Despite the fact that I'd be here 24/7, I'll also be focusing on other kids and not just her. Meaning she would still get little attention and that could lower her self esteem. She's 5, she probably felt like this was normal for the first years of her life until her friends told her that it wasn't. What if she doesn't feel worthy of my love and care? What if she feels negleted?

"I'm sorry," I mumbled under my breath. She deserved a much better parent then me. Someone like Sun. I slapped myself. Are you really comparing yourself to a robot? A whole bunch of metal and wires with codes is making you insecure? Get a hold of yourself.

I sighed and looked up to see Sun and Sandy peeking at me from the other side of the desk, all I could see was the top half of their faces, and it made me jump out of my chair. "Sun, Sandy, don't do that," I stated, regaining my composure, straighting my shirt.

"We're sorry," they said in unison. Then giggled at how perfect timing that was.

"We didn't mean to, Y/N." Sun said, standing up and placing his hands behind his head.

"Yeah Baba, we just wanted to make sure you were okay after banging your head and clapping yourself." Sandy pitched in.

I groaned and strained a smile, "I'm alright. Thanks guys."

The both nodded and looked to the door as a whole bunch of kids ran inside. It was open time. So I replaced that strained smile with the most professional one I could make and looked to the parents.

"Hello, and which child will you be checking in today?"
