Chapter 4 - Another One bites the dust

I woke up suddenly thinking whether if it's all another dream. I find myself in what appeared to be a prison cell. A Robot cop woke me up and told "Please wake up sir, you got bail. You may leave the cell now." Still drowsy, I was confused not knowing what was happening. I read the date on the calendar screen nearby that said 23rd December 2139. An Entire Day has passed, and I don't even remember a single thing !

Was the dream real ? Was there a man breaking into my home ? What happened to Natasha? Who shot me ? Am I going mad ? Why did I end up in prison ?

I looked down to see that there are no injuries. So I concluded that it was all a dream. But I felt something was off, then I saw Natasha walking towards me.

" Babe, are you OK?" Said Natasha while crying and hugging me.

" Why wouldn't I? My Attorney Wife is there to bail me out. " I replied. It was very ironic that I remembered my wife's job and I don't remember what happened yesterday.

"What are you talking about? I reached here as fast as I can when I heard that you turned yourself for murder. I was just about to apply for bail. I didn't bail you. Not only that, but I thought they released you because you were Innocent. The Man you said that you had killed is still alive with no wounds whatsoever." Natasha replied.

I don't know what Natasha was talking about. I don't know what I did yesterday. With so much confusion in my mind, I continued to hug and console Natasha, so I don't upset her.

Probably something huge happened yesterday that led to me allegedly murdering a guy. Furthermore, when I hugged Natasha, I noticed bruises on her forehead and scars on her arms. She was assaulted ! What is even worse that it could be me who assaulted my wife! There is no way that I could've remembered. The Emotional turmoil inside my mind came out as tears. My eyes started tearing up with confusion and guilt. I'm forgetting so many things lately. Now I don't even remember my wife's assaulter! What am I going to do? I don't know.

With a trembling voice, I asked Natasha
"Babe, these scars. It's my fault, isn't it?"

Natasha sobbed harder and told me pointing towards a guy going towards police cars -" NO! YOU'RE NOT THE ONE WHO RAPED ME!! IT'S THAT GUY! You tried to kill him. You went into rage mode and filtered the whole city for him yesterday. I wasn't in a shape to stop you. I am glad that you turned yourself in. They finally caught him. I used to work for the guy years ago. Don't Worry, Babe. He will die feeling the pain of 1000 years starvation in one minute. That's the worst a person could ask for. Let's go home."

I am unable to tell why but that guy seems so much familiar. So I came to a conclusion that in fact I did try to kill him. Perhaps I forgot it.

I turned to Natasha and said -
"Nat, there's something you need to know."

"Yeah. Tell me." She said wiping off the tears.

"I don't remember anything from yesterday."

"Oh, babe! Are you alright?" replied Natasha while checking watch for Vitals.

" Let's get you out of here first. Please, Not a word of this to the police. If they find out this, we're going to have to stay for a long time. I can't take this anymore. Let's go home Babe."

I agreed, and we started to get out of there. All I had to do was submit a retinal scan to the police and get out of there.

All procedures were completed, and before I could get out, I asked the head writer there -
" Excuse me, Can you tell me the name of the person who bailed me out? "

"Yes sir, a minute. It is under the name of Cybermax Incorporated."

I thanked them and walked out with Natasha. Natasha had some errands to run, so she went off to work. Finally, I had some alone time to figure out what was really going on. As I walked towards the Hyperloop station, I found myself in an alley very familiar.
