The morning like shined through the dusty windows. Another day, another challenge. The two men were no longer in bed together. One was still sleeping, the tribulations of reality weren't worth waking up for. The other, in the shower, wishing the hot water would wash the impurities off of him. But in reality, the long ass shower he was taking would only open the door to a new world of opportunities. It all started with a song
" to make those rainbows in my mind, when I think of you some times. I wanna spend some time with you"
he sings into the soap bar
"Just the two of us, we can make it if we try just the two of us, you and I"
Adrian heard the symbolic singing from his bed. He got up and pressed his ear on the door to hear Joseph's awful imitation of the song's saxophone solo.
" just the two of us, building castles in the sky just the two of us, you and I" he finished. Mincing a crowds applauds and screams for an encore.
Adrian slow claps as he walked into the bathroom "ya know, if you're in love with me, all you have to do is say it" he grinned jokingly.
Joseph, shocked and covered in soap stares at Adrian through the curtain . " the song just came to my head, I'm not... I wasn't..."
The stuttering, once again reminded Adrian of His power over Joseph. Even though it was unspoken, they both promised not to give in to their temptations. It was hard ( pun very much intended) but still possible. They had basically been doing it for years at this point.
"Can we talk about something serious? " Adrian asks
" umm sure" Joseph replies anxiously.
" tell me how you really feel about Me" Adrian sits beside the shower, steam blurring his vision
Joseph, shocked, takes a minute to put his thoughts into words.
" I'm attracted to you" Joseph says flatly. It was hard to admit, but the only way to make it better was to just spit it out. "it started out as emotion attraction, I nudged it off as normal that all friends felt for each other. But it's been growing. I'm scared, I honestly never imagined myself feeling psychically attracted towards a man like this"
There was a another short silence. Hearing those words reminded Adrian of the years he spent in the closet, hating both himself and the world he was placed in.
Joseph cuts the water off and sits on the floor of the bathtub. " Adrian please say something, you're scaring me"
'I love you' he wanted to say. ' I love you so much that it hurts' it did hurt. It stung like hand sanitizer on a cut you didn't know existed. A tear escaped from the gates of Adrian's eyes. He quickly wiped it off.
"You have my heart Joseph. It's never belonged to anyone else "
Although he had experienced love with other people, Adrian's heart always found its way back to Joseph. He had spent years wishing Joseph felt the same way about him. Not just physically, but romantically as well.
Finally, the burdens were lifted off their backs. Their hearts felt closer than ever. It was heaven.
" so what now"? Joseph Asks.
Adrian notices the water droplets forming on the mirror above him
"I see the crystal raindrops fall and the beauty of it all, is when the sun comes shining through"
Joseph smiles.
" and darling when the morning comes, and I see the morning sun. I wanna be the one with you"
....
"I'm in love with you"
