hey, friends! i'm back with a fic that's way less depressing, and way more fun and easygoing. this one takes place summer of 2019, during the timeline of two in a million, when austin and ally go on their date (if you've read two in a million, you know what i'm talking about). it is based on the song "do it again" by R5, which, if you haven't listened to, you should totally do (bonus points if you know the taylor swift song that i reference later in the fic— i recently became a swiftie and it's taken over my life 🤪). it's just a very cute song and very much gave me auslly vibes so i kinda wrote it into the main story. parts of this were featured in chapters eight and fifteen of two in a million, but i did add some things in for the purpose of this one shot as well. anywho, here it is! enjoy! :)

summer 2019

about a month after the helen show

Austin shut the door of his car, unable to fight the smile that was forming on his face. He started the ignition, backed out of the parking lot, and headed toward the beach. Little did she know, he was going to take her on the best date she'd ever been on.

"Are you sure you're not kidnapping me?" Ally asked. She reached up to take the bandana off, but felt his hand stop her. Austin laughed.

"Ally, what makes you think that I'm kidnapping you?"

"Um, you brought me out to your car and tied a bandana around my head. Why wouldn't I assume that this is a hostage situation?"

"Relax, okay? I just want it to be a surprise!"

"A surprise kidnapping?"

"Ally!" Austin fought back laughter, trying not to swerve off the road as he fought to keep her bandana on with one hand and drove with the other. Finally, he decided to pull over; he knew his parents would kill him if he wrecked the car because he was messing around. Once he'd found an empty parking lot, he pulled his car into it and put it in park. Austin gently removed Ally's bandana, and she looked around, confused.

"This... isn't the destination, is it?" she said hesitantly.

"No." Austin let out a soft laugh. "It's not. I just wanted to let you know that... once we get there, it'll all be worth it." Ally nodded. "Trust me on this."

She sighed. "Alright. I trust you."

"Good. Now put the bandana back on, because I don't want you seeing the destination before we get there." Ally groaned.

"Fine."

Austin grinned, putting the car back into gear and pulling out of the abandoned grocery store parking lot. For about the fifth time since leaving the music factory, he had to convince himself that the surprise would be all worth it when they finally got to their destination. If he gave it away now, he realized, that would make it less fun for both him and Ally.

Around five minutes later, Austin finally pulled into a parking space located in the parking lot next to the beach and put the car in park. His hands had suddenly become clammy and his heart started racing. Why am I so nervous? It's just Ally. He took his phone out and plugged it into the aux cord of his car, then cleared his throat.
