𝗙rankie groaned when she heard a knock at her bedroom door. "lucas, go away," she muttered, grabbing her phone from the nightstand to check the time.
she paused.
"...wait."
the redhead swung her legs off the bed and opened the door.
"you're not lucas." riley stood in the hallway, arms crossed. "were you expecting him?"
frankie blinked. "yes, i was."
"still?"
frankie nodded and walked back toward her bed. "he always knocks at the same time."
"that's how you knew it wasn't him?"
frankie sighed. she hadn't been back to school since the incident last week. today was supposed to be her first day back, and now she had to deal with riley's pop-up questions too.
"yeah. now why are you here?" "i need your help getting maya back into school."
frankie tilted her head. "what happened?"
"she failed a history test and now she's convinced she doesn't need school anymore."
"and how did you let that happen?" frankie asked. "are you guys not studying together?"
riley shrugged. "i'm not much help."
"that doesn't mean you just stop helping altogether." frankie shook her head, frustrated. "look, i'll find her. i always do."
riley didn't answer, just gave frankie a look and walked toward the door.
she opened it. "lucas."
"oh. hey, riley," lucas said, furrowing his brows when he saw frankie sitting on her bed. his eyes softened when they met hers.
"she just came to ask for help with maya," frankie explained, her voice quieter now.
lucas nodded, stepping past riley with a small smile. "you're right on time, you know."
frankie grinned as she grabbed the plate from his hand. "thank you, cowboy."
he rolled his eyes and headed for her closet.
"so... what were you planning to wear today?" he asked.
frankie sipped her orange juice. "not a dress, or skirt, or jeans."
"so sweatpants?"
she nodded with a grin.
"is this what you guys do every morning?" riley asked, still standing by the door.
