You messed up.

'What the f*ck just happened?' you ask yourself.

You turn around, facing your doorframe, to see your older brother, Caramello.
"Where were you, y/n?"
"I was just-" you started, before he rudely interrupted.
"I didn't ask," he started, being a pain the neck like always. "I don't care...But I do think Papa will." he finished with a smirk.
"Yeah? Well, how would Pa react knowing you and Sofía are doing it when he's not home?" You respond snarkily, trying to find a way out of blackmail.
"Oh come on, y/n, who's he going to care greater of, finding out his 20 year old son isn't a virgin anymore, or his 13 year old daughter sneaking out to see boys when she's grounded?"
"I'm almost 15, Caramello..." you reply with an eye roll.
"Whatever."
"Okay, what do you want so bad that you're trying to blackmail me?" You ask.
"I need you to do my recados tomorrow."
"Are you that stupid that you can't even remember what errands is in English?"
"I need you to go to the market for groceries, deliver the letters at the post office, and get me something for Sofía. She's coming over tomorrow." He says, ignoring your saucy comment.
"Caramello, that's a lot. It's gonna take up my entire day," you complain.
"Shoulda thought about that before you broke the rules again," he calmly replies, "y'know, if you don't want your day wasted tomorrow, I can always tell Papa the truth!"
"Fine, now get out of my room, inmediatamente." You growl as you shut the door behind him.

As you're trying to fall asleep, you wonder if you really should tell the truth, because that's way better than being blackmailed by your 20-year-old brother who still lives at home.
Nah, telling the truth sucks.

You wake up to the wonderful sound of birds tweeting, along with the clamour of people outside and downstairs.

You quickly get ready, putting on a royale blue skirt with a white shirt tucked in, leaving your natural hair free down.
(if you're having trouble imagining, i'm imagining dolores's dress but a dark blue)

You rush downstairs to see your father, sister and brother in the family room.

"Buenos días, y/n." Your papa sighed. "You're up late, did you have an okay sleep last night?"
"Yeah, how was your sleep, y/n?" Caramello snickers.

You look up at him, with your papa and him staring at you, wondering if he told your papa about your adventure last night.
Not taking the risk in mentioning it, you say, "Yeah, it was fine," and look back down.

"Caramello tells me you volunteered to help him out with his errands today?"
"Sí. I really want to get out of the house."

Your papa looks at your brother, then you, and back at your brother.
"Well, I think you could use it to learn a good lesson." he scolds.
He nods at you, as if he's giving you permission to leave the house.

"Gracias, Papa." you glance back at your brother, shooting him a dirty look before grabbing the mail and rushing out of the house to finally breathe in the fresh air once again.

"Hola, y/n!" the townspeople continuously mention to you as you walk down the road, headed towards the post box.
"Hola, Señora Delgado! How's Señor Javier?"
"Oh, he's doing just fine, thank you for asking, darling."
"Buen día!"
Oh, how much you've missed the simple interaction with humans.

When you reach the rusty old post box by the market, you hear joyful voices of the town's children a block down.
You glance down the street to see the same boy you spilled to last night. He was... shape-shifting into people to make the kids laugh?
And then it hit you.

That boy was a Madrigal.
