"Apollo dear? What on earth are you doing?" Apollo's mother asked in a gentle voice, one that could send anyone to sleep. "I'm putting my clothes on mom!" Apollo's mother smiled when he came out the door. Dressed in a blue suit that was velvet hand stitched and dyed by the castles personal seamstress. His crown was tilted and a string of hair was out of place. Apollo's mother, Rosetta, licked her thumb and pushed the single hair in place with his hair. Apollo laughed a very warm laugh, "Mom! Stoooop!" Rosetta smiled as they walked down the very long corridor that had massive windows, letting all light in to shine on the crowns they were wearing.

Alongside the gold rimmed painting and other things scattered in the castle. "My boy, you are the heir to the throne. I am getting quite old and you will have to take that place." Apollo stopped smiling at the thought of his mother going away. He loved his mother very much, and could not do anything without her. Rosetta continued, "You will do wonders for the kingdom and raise it higher for us all. I know you will do great things son." Apollo smiled before his mom could catch the sadness he let loose. As they approached the stairs Rosetta stopped. She starred at the red velvet carpets going down the spiral staircase that was framed with a gold rim. "Today is your ceremony. Apollo you must choose a princess to marry you." Apollo crossed his arms and pouted. "I don't want, nor need a princess mom.-"

Rosetta turned to Apollo with a frown that replaced the smile that she had. Apollo got chills from just even being in her presence of a bad mood. He looked down as Rosetta put he'd hand on his cheek, lifting his head up. "Apollo I know you do not want someone in the throne with you but, if you do not choose a princess I'm afraid this kingdom will fall apart." Apollo sighed and smiled once more. Apollo's smile made Rosetta's cheeks glow and she walked down the stairs with him. "Everybody is here to see who you choose so be on your best behavior Apollo." He nodded as they approached a red curtain. The curtain was silk and Apollo could rub all over all day if he had the chance. Once the curtains opened the quiet throne room filled with screams and talking.

They both walked down to the thrones meeting with the king. Everybody grew silent as King Solaris tapped a cup with a silver spoon. "Hello everyone. I am glad to see you all here with us to share this magical moment. Today will start a new era to this kingdom, and bring many wonders and joy to us all. I hope you all enjoy your time here as we will now be starting the ball! Without further a do, welcome! To the grand crystal ball!" With that everyone clapped and Apollo sat in his smaller throne. Everyone danced, and ate, and laughed as the night went on. Apollo could feel sweat dripping on his face so he grabbed a white cloth and patted his face down. He watched as everyone danced together and smiled filled the room.

All except for one. A boy in one of the distant corners. Apollo looked at the boy, he looked back. Apollo looked away and acted casual. He saw the boy leave outside and called a maid over. He whispered in her ear and she sighed. "Apollo.." he gave her the biggest puppy eyes as he begged her silently. She sighed once more and giggled again. Going to the guards and whispering. The lights shut off and a spotlight went on a small curtain. "Pardon for the interruption everyone but we have the clothing line ready. They will be displayed now." People with racks and racks of clothes came out. The parents looked in awe, as did the audience. While the people were distracted, Apollo snuck out to talk to the boy. As he left he looked to the right of his corner and saw the same boy, swirling a glass of wine. The boy approached Apollo.

"Hm, what are you doing out here prince? Don't you have a ball to be viewing?" Apollo blushed a bit, replacing the natural blush he had with a more red blush. The boy noticed and chuckled. He walked towards Apollo as Apollo walked backwards. Eventually bumping into a wall, as he looked away the boy had pinned him to the wall. Apollo's face looked like a tomato. The boy leaned in closer to the prince before the bell chimed. Both the boy and the prince stood back up straight and starred at the door. Before the prince entered the doors he turned and asked the strange cute boy, "What is your name?" The boy laughed and drank his wine before responding, "Elijah. My name is Elijah." The prince blushed once more and waved bye and he ran back to his small throne. He sat down smiling and still blushing before his mother noticed. She whispered to his father before he hit his cup again. Everyone went quiet once more.

"We are sorry for cutting this ball short but I think our son has found a lucky girl tonight." The son looked up at the king and then back at the people. The princesses that had visited lined up before the throne. The prince requested them to spread out in a line where he could see them all. He scanned them and then got up. The girls were blushing and almost ready to scream. He looked at them up close until he stood in front of them all. He chose the most unique one, the most pretty (to the his eyes). He walked to a girl who's skin was dark with patches of pale skin. She had beautiful green and blue eyes. "What is your name pretty girl." The prince said as he pushed some of her curly hair behind her ear. The girl stammered but was not blushing. "Isabella.." He bowed and held his hand out. "May I have this dance Isabella?"

She bowed and the room cleared a big circle for them to dance. The lights dimmed as a small spotlight casted on them. They danced to a sweet slow song as the Queen cried. Isabella pulled him in close to his ear and whispered. "I am terribly sorry Prince Apollo, but I do not like boys." Apollo's eyes widened as he smiled. The prince whispered, "I am happy to hear that Isabella. I do not like girls." They both danced until the song stopped and everyone clapped for them. After everyone left Isabella and her father, King Solaris, talked with the King and Queen. The two younger ones snuck off to the balcony and talked under the stars. Isabella started first. "Prince Apollo I am happy you do not like girls! But I am quite confused, how would this work out for us."

Apollo looked off the balcony, remembering the boy- no- remembering Elijah, and looked back at her. "Please, call me Apollo. Do not fret I have a plan." They discussed the plan of marrying and divorcing later on due to 'unhappy marriage' so they could split and marry who they want to. Meanwhile they would date who they wished to while they were married. They were giggling and whispering while they discussed and had to re-plan multiple things throughout the long talk. After the plan had been discussed all they had to do was pick who they love and act out until it was time.

I loved you. What a fool I was. (boyxboy)Where stories live. Discover now
