Becoming Beta

The First Shift.

It been a few weeks since Kuta Shift for the first time. I couldn't help but ask mom and dad why I couldn't help Kuta as he shift. I didn't really understand and it was the first time I saw anyone shift for the first time being 6 years old. I still remember how it all happen.

Three weeks ago

"Okay boys since you two have been behaving. I think I'll let you two have one cookie." Mom saying with a teasing smile. Since we are still in trouble for what happen but we behave since. As well convince mom, just I had to agree on helping pack up lunch.

"Yeah!" Kuta and I scream in joy as we snack on our cookie. Leaving mom, dad, Alpha and our pack Luna laughing at us. Luna is the Alpha mate. Again mom makes amazing cookies so we couldn't help it.

"Alright you two go out and play. We got some boring stuff to talk about." Alpha said. And like that we were off. We were playing tag and I was it. So I was chasing after Kuta when suddenly he hold his stomach and drop on to the ground groaning.

"Kuta!" I scream out to him and start running over. "Ajax wait!" Alpha commanded making stop in my tracks. I want to protest seeing Kuta was like that but I couldn't and look at Alpha in confusion.

"He's shifting. Just give him some space." Alpha soon explain. I watch Kuta Shift hearing him groan in pain, bones snapping making him scream.

I want to go up to him but I can't disobey Alpha. So I watch being worried for my best friend.

Soon I see a brown wolf infront of me. I look back at Alpha as he walk up to me. He motion me to stay by him and we walk up to the wolf.

"Kuta?" I asking with concern for him. The wolf look at me then see Alpha. "Look at the eyes Ajax and watch closely." Alpha inform me, and I look at the eyes of a wolf.

"Wolf eyes." I comment. Alpha explain that mean his wolf is in control and soon Kuta eyes appear and he came up to me licking my face. I laugh being happy to have my friend back.

Present day

I refocus and help mom get dinner ready for Alpha, Luna, and Kuta being our guest for tonight. As I help cook dinner there's a knock at the door.

"Ajax can you get that dinner is almost ready." Mom ask. I make my way over to the door and soon I open it I got pounce by Kuta still in his wolf form. Because we all need at least six week in our wolf form to get use to them.

"Hey Kuta." I was able to speak through my laughter. Kuta got off and I got up to see Alpha and Luna. Getting up I bow to them. "Hello Alpha, hello Luna." I greet them.

"Greeting Ajax. Hope we're on time." Alpha state. "Dinner is almost ready Alpha. Can I get you and Luna a drink?" "Water will be fine." Luna say in a calming voice.

Turn and run half way through the living room when out of nowhere I feel a sharp pain and collapse on the floor with a loud thud. Causing everyone to run to the room. Like Kuta I was on the ground groaning in pain.

"What happen to Ajax?" Rose ask being scared like I was with Kuta. "He's shifting." Dad state in shock. I unlike Kuta should not shift yet. Only alpha born wolves can shift at 6 years old.

I feel my bone snapping apart making let out a loud scream. "Mom. Dad. Help me....please." Is all I can think of. I start to feel fur spiking out of my skin and my bone aligning. And soon everything when black.

"Ajax. Aaaajax." I recognize the voice being my moms calling to me in a soft tone. And I soon see everyone standing near the couch. With mom and dad hold Rose back who look at me worried but in aw.

"I feel...so different." I thought to my self. "Wow. Big brother just shift." Rose said now in more aw. I soon see dad bring over a mirror.

What stood before in the mirror was a black wolf. I jump back only to realize I was that black wolf. I look at my wolf form in amazement then at dad.

"Well then." Alpha quickly caught all of our attention. "What...does this means?" Mom ask Alpha and Luna. "I believe Ajax is destined for something great in the future. The question is what is it." Alpha state.

I was curious on what I might be in future given how I shift so early. Mom goes and prepare a second bowl for me and for the rest of the night I remain in my wolf form and enjoy playing with Kuta.
