“Hey.” I blurted, cheeks flushing beneath Detective Morales's heavy stare.

He nodded his head in greeting, blinking hard before replying evenly. “Hello.”

I swiftly returned my gaze to the copier in front of me, focusing intently on the control panel. Even though I tried to ignore his overwhelming presence, I couldn’t help but watch the detective out of the corner of my eye. He busied himself with making copies of his own, looking as if he was ignoring my entire presence.

As I shut the tray to the machine, my gaze came to rest upon a bulletin board as the old piece of technology rumbled to life beneath my hands. Morales mirrored my position as the copier in front of him whirled to life.

There was a good foot between us, and yet, I felt like we were huddled inches apart. The air between the two of us was intense, static and charged and thick. My skin even began to feel flushed beneath the fabric of my yellow dress shirt.

I wonder if he’s a good kisser. You should kiss him and find out.

I blanched at the fortuitous thought that had reverberated so loudly within my skull. Aghast, I chanced a glance at Morales, wondering if he had heard it too. But, luckily, the man didn’t seem to have the powers of Telepathy. His eyes remained carefully trained upon the wall in front of him. The Freemasonry ring upon his left pinky glistened beneath the bright florescent lights as he idly drummed his fingers.

You should totally kiss him. Even my body seemed to agree with my brain, automatically angling itself towards him. Kiss him. You’re leaving in two weeks, anyway.

Robotically, I took a hesitant step towards the detective. The movement was instantly noticed, prompting him to slowly turn his head. He watched as I closed the distance between us, poised and gaze carefully blank. A dark brow rose minimally, inquisitive.

This is a bad idea.

I stilled at his side, leaving barely any room between us. His scent - something spicy and woodsy and distinctly him - filled my senses as I slowly rose up onto my toes.

Breath stuttering as my nose bumped his cheek, I paused; allowing time for him to pull away from my advances. But he didn’t. If anything, Morales’s eyelids automatically drooped at my approach.

Shaky fingertips reached up to trace across his rough cheek while lips timidly brushed up against his. It was a soft peck - hesitant and questioning - before pulling back slightly. Once again, allowing him time to pull away. But, my heart jolted up into my throat as the detective bowed his head forward, lips willingly searching for mine.

Oh, this is a very bad idea. I blearily thought as our mouths found each other once more. But, honestly? All of my favorite things start off as bad ideas.

Inches away from the hustle and bustle of the precinct, soft and eager pecks quickly turned to needy and passionate caresses in seconds.

As the detective swiftly turned to fully face me, I instantly wrapped my arms around his neck while strong hands dug into the back of my shirt. With a satisfied grunt, Morales boldly pulled me towards him until every inch of me was snuggly slotted against him. My lips parted in a soundless gasp as the heat of him seeped through my clothes, seemingly overcome by the intimacy of the contact. The detective instantly took advantage of my open mouth, my soft whimper being swallowed up by a seeking tongue.
