Not enough words were exchanged in the morning. Both of them acknowledged that impulsive decisions influenced by alcohol intake had transpired. They were aware that both of them were awake, yet not a single glance had been snuck toward the other. Jeongguk sighed and slowly positioned himself to sit on the side of the bed, his back facing Taehyung.
"I'm sorry, Hyung. I... This shouldn't have happened. It's my fault." He spoke softly, but Taehyung could sense the dishonesty and exhaustion in his words.
He was probably used to apologizing for things that weren't entirely his fault. Thanks to a certain someone, Taehyung thought.
After chewing on his bottom lip, Taehyung reached over to gently pull Jeongguk's shoulder back so that he'd look him in the eye. The younger turned his head and cast his deep gaze onto him, his brows slightly scrunched in both confusion and apprehension.
"Jeongguk, we both did this. And... I don't know... Is it really a bad thing?" It was. It was definitely not smart, it was super stupid and naive and impulsive and–
"Probably, but... I wanted it, Hyung. I should've... stopped myself, I don't know." The younger had his eyes shamefully cast down at his hands laid in his lap. Taehyung carefully placed his hand on top of the others, wanting him to stop the nervous picking at his skin.
"I'm sorry I didn't hold myself back either. Just please..." Taehyung didn't know how to phrase it, but he could feel Jeongguk slipping through his fingers, his walls rising as he let his guilt and regret consume him. It was too much for him to handle. Taehyung began to panic as Jeongguk slowly withdrew his hands, his body turning away from him. Before he could distance himself any further, the older grabbed onto the ravenette's hand which captured his attention once more. "Stay."
"Please stay, Jeongguk."
They stared into each other's souls, the emotion withheld in their glazed gazes came pouring through their unspoken words. Jeongguk felt wanted, needed. And whatever Taehyung reflection in his eyes was enough to compel the other, for once, to stop running away.
"Okay." The younger sighed in relief, his breath hitting Taehyung's lips. He wasn't sure when the two of them had leaned in towards one another, but it was all he needed to close the gap with a kiss.
⛓️ ⛓️ ⛓️
Jeongguk was already smoking a joint by the time Taehyung came downstairs. The younger sat sprawled on the old sofa at the back of the porch, his fingers massaging his forehead. Taehyung felt like he had to tread on eggshells around the other, fearing one crack would send him running in another direction. Taehyung was aware that the complexity of their relationship just continued to make everything fuzzier, and Jeongguk was clearing his head with thick clouds of weed.
