it was a cold crisp day. if you'd breathed you could see it in white puffs of warm air. the town was covered in a white blanket of snow. Kris had already been home from highschool for a good few hours. Tonight was special though. Their mother Toriel was going out to run a few errands and trusted Kris to be by themselves whilst she went out. "Goodbye sweetie! I love you! Make sure to keep the oven off. If you get hungry there's some microwave mac n cheese in the pantry. If someone rings the doorbell, don't answer, okay?" The kind goat mother said nervously. Kris made sure to put their thumbs up as a reminder to their mom that they'd be fine. little did she know though, there was gonna be a rad party at that house. Kris was planning this for awhile, so they knew what was going down. This wasn't just any old party. No mon frere. Today was special. This was the day Kris had finally practiced and prepared enough to profess their love to Susie.
They bring out their stereo cd boombox into the living room and place in a cd they'd burned in one of the library computers earlier. Hell yeah. They asked their friend Noelle earlier if she could bring some cookies or something. They knew she wouldn't disappoint. Kris' silly ironic fresh prince of bel-air theme song ringtone starts blasting across the house. They rush over to grab the phone and answer to a charismatic yet nervous Noelle. "H-Hey Kris!!! I'm on my way to the house, I didn't want to startle you out of nowhere by ringing the doorbell." They chat it up with her for a good few minutes, and before you know it, Noelle was at the door. She was sweating from carrying from what was presumably baked goods. Kris made sure to help her out carrying them. "Bring out whatever you want, I sorta just want the house to be presentable." Kris said, watching Noelle trying not to open the kitchen cabinets with her antlers. Kris and Noelle had gotten everything ready. "Hey, Kris. I'm really happy you invited Susie. I'm nervous and excited to see her." Noelle muttered, twiddling her fingers nervously. "Can you make sure I can have the least possible time spent with Berdly?" Kris replied timidly. "Not that there's anything wrong with him, he just tends to overstimulate me heh...." "Oh sure thing Krissy!! Anything to make you comfortable." Suddenly Noelle's sweet smile seemed to get rid of any doubts Kris was worried about. After a good 45 minutes, seemed like almost everyone they'd invited showed up. Kris had just chugged a bunch of punch, needless to say they needed to pee. So they head to the bathroom, ending up losing themselves in a comic book.
It was a solid 15 minutes they were in there. They wash their hands and clean themselves up in the mirror, clipping their hair back with a bobbypin so they could actually see. They prepared themselves for overstimulation from the loud lively environment and trot out the doo-. Why did they put up the mistletoe. Why. Hyperventilating, they stare across the house to see Susie passionately kissing Noelle under the mistletoe.
It felt like the world was spinning. They couldn't help but panic and tremble. Clenching their teeth and hands sure wasn't helping. Tears welled in their eyes, they held it in, feeling their face turn red and start to sting. When finally Susie had looked around to see Kris, they rushed out the door with their head in their sweater sleeve. A knee jerk reaction, they supposed. Susie ran after them for a good few steps before Kris managed to choke out a "Leave me alone." Gazing back at Susie who looked disturbed to say the least, they realized what they said. They look away from the unkept reptilian girl and muttered a "Please." They kept running. They didn't know where. At that point the library was closed so not there, but thought about going back to their other home. The one in the dark world. They could've visited their father but they might get in trouble. The only thing they think of is sneaking into the school and jumping into the storage closet portal. They search around for a cracked open window they could shimmy through. Luckily, they managed to find one. It was a Friday, meaning nobody would've been in the school. It hurt their fingers to pull up the window from outside, but they really needed a place to go to stop feeling dreadful. They stumble in, bumping their head on the cold tile floor in the process. After letting out a small "ow.", they head over to the closet. They made sure to bring the items from the spare classroom as well.
"You okay, Kris?" a familiar face uttered. They nod. They'd only known Ralsei for less than a month, so they were still relatively cautious around him. They had already started heading for Castle Town, more specifically Ralsei's house. They head upstairs and lock themselves inside the room Ralsei built. They screamed into their pillow. They had no plan. They didn't know what to do, so it's not like anyone else could know, They reached a dead end. They could only sob inside these castle walls.
