Monty was...a mess. In more ways than one. Luckily, your job was to clean up his messes. You saw your coworker look at you and asked if you were okay.
"I'm alright. Just got caught a bit off guard, that's all." you chuckled. You were told that your next task was to clean Chica's guitar and tighten a few bolts in her beak as they had come loose during the show.
"Chica should be easy; she's a bit of an airhead but she's sweet." he stated. You nodded and entered Chica's room, who was currently playing her guitar very loudly. You watched her beak wobble a bit as she moved her head when she looked to see who opened her door.
"OOH, visitors! Are you new?" Chica asked.
"Yes, I'm the new animatronic caretaker. I'm here to clean your guitar and tighten your beak," the chicken clapped her mechanical hands together and sat herself down on her couch. She looked excited and it made you giggle. She was cute.
You put your mechanical tools down and figured cleaning her guitar would be an easier task. It just had a few splotches on it, no big deal; so why did they need the caretaker to do it? Did no one else want to do it?
After putting the newly cleaned guitar down you picked up your wrench and got closer to Chica's mouth. Before you could grab it though, she covered it with her hands. You looked at her quizzically and allowed her to explain.
"it's kind of dirty in there...you won't get grossed out when you start working on my beak, will you?" It was beyond impressive the kind of work that went to programming the AIs of these robots; they acted so human. You really wanted to talk to their creator. It would be best to indulge the animatronics and treat them as humans, especially since they basically are.
You smiled softly. "I won't. Even if I do, that won't stop me from helping you. If it's dirty, I can clean it for you after I fix it if you'd like?" Chica smiled using her eyes and nodded. She moved her hands away from her beak and opened it up for you.
You had to unscrew some bolts to get good access to the inside of her beak, but it wasn't too hard. It was indeed dirty, and very stinky. But you didn't let it show. If animatronics could feel shame, then it would probably be best if you didn't mention anything embarrassing.
After fixing the loose screws in her beak you grabbed a toothbrush and began scrubbing her tiny teeth. Many people actually don't know that ducks and the like have little teeth; cute design choice, but Chica is a chicken. Not a duck.
You really should talk to their creator.
After thoroughly cleaning out her beak and wiping it down with polish you smiled at your finished work. "Your beak looks so much prettier now," you smiled and watched as she quickly went over to the mirror to inspect her beak and sat down.
"Wow! Thank you so much! It's so clean; none of the previous caretakers ever did this-" Chica stopped mid-sentence as she continued to look at her beak. "Are you going to quit like the others? I know we can be...a lot to handle but...we mean well." you smiled softly and walked next to Chica in the mirror.
"Unless somewhere is hiring with a larger, better pizzaplex with cooler looking animatronics, I don't think you need to worry." you touched Chica's hair and patted it. She looked happy and gave you a hug.
She was definitely much taller than you, but her sitting down helped. You giggled at how affectionate Chica was, and you dubbed her as your favorite. You hugged the chicken back as she nuzzled into your neck. She was cold, but soft at the same time.
"As much as I'd love to stay here with you, I've got to go help the others." Chica released you happily and walked you to the door.
"Stay safe! We should hangout and eat pizza together sometime." you nodded and used your caretaker pass to open the door.
"We should. I'll see you later Chica," you waved to her and saw your coworker waiting outside.
"She's sweet. I like her," he nodded.
"I knew you would. It's five minutes till closing, so I've got to go. Do you think you'll be okay?" you nodded and watched him walk to the entrance.
Freddy was the last animatronic in the area you needed to take care of before heading to the daycare, which is where you'll be spending most of the night. The daycare was a big place and so many icky kids played in there; you shivered just thinking about it.
You opened Freddy's room with your pass to see him in sleep mode at his mirror. You checked your fazwatch and saw that you needed to clean out his chest cavity.
"Freddy?" you called out as you walked up to him. You watched his eyes open and look down at you. "Hi! I'm Y/n, and I'm your new caretaker. I was assigned to clean out your chest cavity. May I?"
You watched Freddy's ears twitch happily. "It is nice to meet you! It is good to have a personal caretaker again. My chest cavity is quite dirty, so it would be wonderful if you could clean it." What a polite gentleman, you thought. He was definitely the most well-mannered of the bunch. A nice break from the overwhelming auras the others had.
He opened his chest cavity for you, and you almost let your disgust show, but you realized Freddy also most likely felt shame. You hopped on his chair so you could reach in his large chest cavity and started cleaning out the confetti and old birthday cake. Some of it had mold on it; how do they let the animatronics get this bad?
It was a simple job, but god was he sticky. You wondered how the cakes didn't get contaminated. It also smelled rancid but what would one expect when literally no one else will take care of them?
Eventually you were able to clean him out thoroughly, but he smelled like cleaner. So as a cute touch you put a car freshener in his cavity. "There! All clean." you smiled up at the twelve-foot animatronic who seemed content.
"Thank you very much, Y/n. I cannot wait to work with you in the future. I do hope we can be good coworkers." you nodded in response before exiting his room. Although your cleaning task took the longest with him, he was curt with you and didn't keep you for long.
You'll have to ask him questions about his code another time. He seemed to want some time to himself.
You checked your fazwatch again to see that you're assigned to the daycare for the rest of your shift. This was the real test in your opinion; having to clean up a huge play area would probably put a lot of physical strain on you.
You were ready though. At least, you thought you were.
