Rose's pov

She was sat next to me. I could feel her leg pressing again mine. As I thought about it, I felt blood rush to my face. I lifted my fork and prepared to take a bite of my salad. We made eye contact and I blushed harder, the contents of my fork slipping into my lap. She looked away. At that moment, Greg burst through the door, complaining very loudly to a fed up looking Peter.

"Why that bastard! Telling me to do his job! How dare he! And getting those children to do his dirty work for him! Disgraceful!"

Unfortunately, he noticed me staring at him and I didn't have time to run.

"Hello there Rose! Did you here about that idiot of a man Ryland? You see, just yesterday he was telling me about some top secret tv show he appears in. As if I'm not a director myself. Who would hire him I don't know because he's just so self centred and he goes on and on..."

He continued talking but I wasn't listening anymore. Aiden had just walked in.

"Hi Aiden! What kept you?" It made me want to slap him even more than usual when I heard that creep's name in Abby's perfect, unspoiled mouth.

"Oh just a bullying report about Lola Simmons. Turns out it was all a misunderstanding."

Yes. Just a misunderstanding. Definitely not me trying to keep him out of the way while I spent some time talking to Abby alone for a change. The stench of his sweat soaked shirt suggested he had run the entire length of the grounds on his way over. I had been hoping to keep him distracted for long enough to finally ask Abby out but he had ruined the moment as always.

I signed loudly, making a big show of pushing myself onto my feet using Abby's shoulder and hugging her. The salad which had fallen into my lap had dropped into hers when I stood up so I bent down and brushed it away onto the floor. Giovanni shot me a strange look from the other side of the staff room, raising his eyes suggestively but continuing to shovel pork fried rice into his mouth. I glared angrily at him, dramatically storming out of the room towards the netball courts to set up for the next lesson.
