Alex just stood there. For years he had dreamed of hearing those words, but when he got to university he gave up that dream. Knowing, well thinking it wasn’t real. But here is the proof, concrete evidence that the brilliant, eccentric, mad Doctor, is real.

“Alex” he murmured.

With that, The Doctor added more words to the confusion.

“I don’t suppose you could make some tomato soup?”

Alex’s eyebrows slanted, he was so utterly confused his emotions gave off the impression he was angry. In contrast however, he was completely the opposite of angry. The day he had been waiting for all his life had finally arrived, all doubt and suspicion were erased from his mind and replaced with thoughts of adventure and danger.

Then, again, The Doctor asked “I still need that soup.”

Alex just nodded and went inside, he felt stupid and a little bit ignorant, only saying one thing to the saviour of universes. The head of one, anyway. Which was another question out of a million he wanted to ask The Doctor. The first being, why tomato soup?

He stirred the contents of the bowl and headed outside again.

“Ah good, now hurry, inside.”

What? Inside where? All that was visible of The Doctor was a head.

“Come along Pond- er, I mean, Alex”

A look of devastation overtook The Doctor’s face and drained him of colour. His eyes wandered around, empty and isolated until he snapped back into reality. His arms appeared out of thin air and grabbed the soup hurriedly off Alex. Then he turned his head and he was gone.

“Doctor!” Alex exclaimed. “Doctor!”

He can’t just be gone, surely not. Alex’s heart was racing, his dreams of adventure were slipping away from him by the second. Has he really gone?

“Doctor!” He yelled, this time louder.

So that’s it, he comes, he takes soup and goes? What kind of hero is that? A heartless one. Anger was flooding through his body when all of a sudden, a blast of wind threw him sideways, causing him to trip over the kerb.

His eyes blurred as he stood up and brushed himself off. Coming into focus, he pieced something in front of him. A majestic, yet simple structure stood before Alex.

The Tardis.
